The E.V.I.B.L. was established in 2023, by the Ladysmith Punk Rock Baseball Club. It is a league centred around inclusiveness, sportsmanship, and the love for the game played in it's purest form. In 2022 the Ladysmith Punk Rock Baseball Club started playing pick-up baseball games in Chemainus. After a while, our first team was established! This team was called the Stuart Channel Blue Heron. And pretty much right away the Blue Heron realized that there were no other teams to play against in their area. So we travelled all summer up and down the island to find games against other like-minded leagues. After the 2022 season was completed, it was deemed by all involved that there should be a league established here so that they could play games locally. In the off-season, the Yellow Point Vultures was born, and in essence, the springboard for a new baseball league was sprung called the East Vancouver Island Baseball League! The name of our league is an homage to the roots of our commissioner Heath Fenton and his time with the East Van Baseball League. There will be only two teams in 2023, with plans for expansion to 4 teams in 2024. If you build it, they will come. And that is exactly what we are doing.
