LETTER OF ENDORSEMENT 14 October 2026
MAYOR DARRIN CANNIFF

The Kent Athletic Youth Organization, KAYO Boxing Team, wishes to endorse current Mayor Darrin Canniff in his quest for re-election for a third term as Mayor of Chatham-Kent.

It is our humble opinion that this could be the most important election in the history of Chatham-Kent. There are several candidates running for this very important position. Please be advised that I am also a register member of the following organization and Not For Profits. The Imperial Club of Chatham, Moose Lodge 1692, Legion 642, Chatham Lion Club, and currently I am President of The Kent Athletic Youth Organization for 27 years.

I personally have witness Mayor Canniff, who prefers to just be called Darrin, attended at each of the above mentioned organizations and Not for Profits upon their request and gladly hand out certificates and if asked give a speech on behalf of the city recognizing their achievements and successes. Darrin came to the grand opening of KAYO Boxing Club at our new location and has supported every fund raiser we have conducted and personally aid us when in dire financial need. He went out his way to aid us in securing funds that will insure the continuation of The KAYO Boxing Club for many years to come knowing our success with the youth of Chatham-Kent rests on volunteers and funding.

We have and I am convinced good quality candidates running for the position of Mayor of Chatham-Kent and believe their goals and campaign promises are genuine and sincere. I strongly suggest that we support and re-elect and the person with a proven track record. Mayor Darrin Canniff has delivered to the community in every concealable way. Darrin’s job is far from finished and he needs your vote and support to continue to move the Municipality of Chatham-Kent forward.

He recognizes that their is a homeless and mental ill concern in the community and that is a concern that plaques every city, town, village in Canada and is a recognized global concern and issue. No one running for the position of Mayor can truthfully promise a quick solution or fix to this epidemic. It is very complex and a delicate issues that takes a great deal of networking to monitor, control, and supervise. Mayor Canniff has addressed this with all the information and assistance to his disposal.

Mayor Canniff truly knows the value and importance our Not for Profits and Charities in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent play in assisting in the growth of our community. He has come to talk to us, aid us and asks the question “How can I help you”! Approximately three years ago Darrin came to a celebration of several of our local youth competitors that won at a major boxing tournament in Brampton. Mayor Canniff award each competitor individually with a Certificate of Achievement. This was a complete surprise to me and my KAYO youths. To this day they still cherish this award. We have a Mayor that cares, we have a Mayor that motivated, we have a Mayor that is realistic, and again a Mayor that has a PROVEN TRACK RECORD.

I ask all friend and members of the KAYO Boxing Club family to please support Darrin in quest for re-election. I also ask you to please share this message and let reach a goal of 10,000 views!

THANK YOU, CHATHAM! 🥊❤️

Our very first KAYO Car Wash was a huge success, and thanks to everyone who came out to support us.

We were able to reach our goal!

A big shout out to Ward 7 Candidate Steve Kenney and Amy Finn who came by to personally support.

Jason Reynolds and Marjorie Crew also of Ward 7 sent their regrets as they were committed to other duties and responsibilities but did send their well wishes.

Note Mayor Canniff contacted me and lol was racing over to have his vehicle washed but we were shut down so again lol he gets a honourable mention.

Former KAYO Great Jamie Jefferson surprised everyone by dropping by and make a very generous donation.....thank you champ!

Last but not least, big thank you to all the KAYO members that did the hard work to make this all possible to begin with! 🙏

🥊 KAYO Boxing Club, Our Focus on Youth!

Another recommended candidate for endorsement is Jason Allen Reynolds.

Because at KAYO, our focus has always been on the positive development, education, and direction of youth throughout Chatham-Kent.

We recognize that our community faces many important challenges, including homelessness, mental health, support for seniors, hunger, and many other concerns. These issues matter to all of us and deserve attention and action.

For KAYO, however, our particular focus remains on our youth. We believe every young person deserves positive opportunities, encouragement, support, and the right direction to help them build confidence, develop discipline, and reach their potential.

Investing in our youth means investing in the future of our entire community.

Candidate Steve Kenney — Ward 7

Please be advised that I am currently the President of the Kent Athletic Youth Organization also known as the KAYO Boxing Cub. Our mandate is focused on but not limited to the positive development of the youth of Chatham-Kent through physical fitness. In my 26 years as President we have had great success with reaching and turning around troubled youths here in the municipality.

It is my personal belief that this up coming municipal election is possibly the most important election in the history of Chatham-Kent. In understanding this I have had opportunity to speak with Candidate for Ward 7 Steve Kenney. Be advised that this meeting was not a short door to door campaign introduction. I was aware and advised of Steve’s involvement within the community and requested a personal meeting with him during his already busy schedule. Steve contacted me and a meeting was arranged.

I expected a quick prescriptive explanation of the duties, issues, and concerns he would address if elected to council. To my relief that was not the case. We did speak on the many concerns that currently plague our community and Steve was truly well educated to the many issues and concerns of the community but also had pointed out possibly solutions to these troubling times and also welcomed any suggestions I might have in regards to these complex issues.

Though was spoke on many obvious problems and issues currently here in Chatham-Kent Steve was extremely knowledgeable on each issue such as the homeless situation, mentally ill, development of local and corporate business, taxes, the elderly, and of course the list is endless. The task at hand for Steve Kenney if elected is very complex and I believe after our discussion he has achievable goals and a solid game-plan / process to reach these goal for our municipality.

I am not in the same situation as candidate Steve Kenney who must and will address each of these item that our municipality has placed in front of him. Though I am a concerned citizen of Chatham-Kent and have my views on the many issues surrounding our community I have one main focus as the President of The Kent Athletic Youth Organization I currently have to concentrate on one very important issue which is the positive development to our cities youth.

It is my thought and believe that if focus is made now on our youth that many, if not all, of the concerns and issues we have in the community can be curve tailed over time. There are many Not for Profits and Charities that aid the youth in their positive development, education, and direction. We need to support these clubs and organization with volunteers and funding.

Candidate Steve Kenney at that time took over our conversation with great excitement, enthusiasm, and conviction. He had visions and reachable and achievable direction in this area. Steve pointed out to me his vision and ideas in this one of many again concerns and issues within Chatham-Kent but many times in my humble opinion, the youth falls through the cracks.

I assure you if Steve Kenney is elected to City Council for the Municipally of Chatham-Kent our youth will not be left behind or forgotten.

Kids in Sports Stay out of Courts!

I support Steve Kenney for Ward 7 and asked if one of your concerns is the positive development and education of the youth which is the foundation of Chatham-Kent I implore the friends, members, and family of The Kent Athletic Youth Organization to vote Steve Kenney Ward 7 for City Council.

Steve Kenney has realistic plans and goals, not hopes and dreams and in doing so you will be supporting KAYO.
