The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation was officially recognized by the Government of Canada in 2021 as a result of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada
(External link) This is a day to lean in, listen, and learn about the ongoing impacts of colonization, including residential schools. It's a day to learn the 'truth' of our shared history, but also about how we can create pathways towards reconciliation and healing in our personal and professional lives.

You can read the 94 Calls to Action as set out by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission to better understand what you can do to year round to remember all the children that didn’t make it home.

Starting at 10:30am at the Wallaceburg Public Library, there will be a Healing Walk and Gathering to walk together and listen to guest speakers share their experiences and ideas about how we heal.

Concussion safety and awareness are most important to us here at Kent Havoc and across all sports in Ontario. Today is in remembrance of Rowan Stringer, who tragically passed from second impact syndrome.

It is essential for all athletes under 26 years of age, parents of athletes under 18, coaches, team trainers and officials confirm every year that they have reviewed Rowan’s Law and concussion safety.

If you notice any signs of a concussion (headache, memory loss, nausea, and/or drowsiness) after a hit to the head, neck, and/or face, you need to consult with a physician or nurse practitioner.

You can find more resources for concussion safety at ontario.ca/page/rowans-law-concussion-safety
