Our amazing friend and pilot, Tony Powell, has made his final flight. ❤️
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Captain Tony F. Powell, an extraordinary pilot, a dear friend, and truly one of the finest people you could ever hope to know.
For more than 30 years, Tony flew our guests in and out of Hawke River, becoming such a familiar and cherished part of the experience for so many. Over his remarkable 50-year aviation career, he logged more than 27,000 hours in the air, but no number could ever measure the lives he touched along the way.
Tony was a legend in Labrador aviation, but to those of us fortunate enough to know him, he was so much more than that. He was a wonderful human being, and we feel incredibly lucky to have had him as part of our lives and our Hawke River family.
His sister shared these beautiful words:
At 9:42 p.m. on Sunday, October 18th, surrounded by his large, loving family, Captain Tony F. Powell took his final flight.
CG-TFP, cleared for one last takeoff. No more headwinds, just clear skies ahead.
Our hearts are broken, but you’ll forever fly alongside of us.
Our hearts go out to Tony's family and to all those who loved him.
We would love to hear your "Tony Stories," because we know there are so many. Whether you flew with him once or knew him for decades, we hope you'll share a favourite memory in the comments.
Clear skies, Tony. You will be so deeply missed. ❤️
