Our Story:

Dance Virtuosa School of Dance, owned and artistically directed by Kashena Collins B.R. and established in 2009, has quickly evolved as one of the most recognized schools of dance on Prince Edward Island, dedicated to providing high quality instruction in many facets of dance. We are committed to providing a progressive well-rounded curriculum of instruction in a positive friendly environment to all aspiring dancers in the two largest centres on this Island in Charlottetown and Summerside. We cater to students age 3 through adult, beginner to pre-professional level. Students may study a variety of dance styles from our highly diversified, professional teaching staff. Instructors assess student’s strengths and areas for growth and apply teaching skills in such a way to maximize student’s enjoyment and help them reach their ultimate potential. We are here to motivate young minds, develop skilled, happy and healthy dancers. We believe that introducing and enriching your child in dance is a wonderful gift that will last forever! Dance teaches poise, promotes good posture, body alignment, musical awareness, and develops rhythm and coordination. It is a craft that increases strength, flexibility and exercises cognitive abilities. Involvement in many forms of dance allows the student to explore movement, music, and creative expression as they learn to dance in a structured environment. Dance is an athletic art form that strengthens the student mentally, physically and artistically. Additionally, dance fosters personal development, confidence, and creates a positive self-image; leadership skills begin to emerge through the natural process of following direction and creating movement with the dynamic and synergy of team building. Our dancers of all ages and levels share one common factor: they love dancing at Dance Virtuosa. Our Approach, Atmosphere and Environment:

A young dancer evolves in so many ways through the art of dance. Technical instruction given in a fun, joyful atmosphere while developing rhythm, skill and coordination is a winning combination. Additionally, our studio boasts energetic, bright surroundings with features such as true floor to ceiling mirrors for optimal instruction, and low impact/joint friendly shock absorption floors.

Young Company is about so much more than being a great dancer.

These girls show up for their team, support the dancers around them and represent DV out in our community. They’re the ones our younger dancers get to watch and think, “I want to do that someday.”

Because being a role model isn’t just about what you can do on stage — it’s how you carry yourself off of it, too.

They work hard. They cheer louder for each other. They give back. They lead by example.

They’re not just dancers. They’re a team.

From those first tiny steps into the studio to the strength, confidence and artistry of their teenage years — DV is about so much more than learning choreography.

We build strong, talented dancers. Skilled bodies in motion. But along the way, we’re also building friendships, confidence, discipline and a community where our dancers can grow up together.

Some will dance for a season. Some will stay for years. There’s a place for all of them here.

Young Company is about so much more than learning choreography.

These dancers train, perform, challenge themselves and learn what it means to be part of a team. They put in the extra hours, show up for one another, take on new opportunities and continue to grow both on and off the stage.

And if you’ve been following along lately, you already know just how incredible this group is. 🥹
