Traffic Impacts for Gran Fondo PEI – Aug. 29

Location: Various Charlottetown streets

Date: Saturday, Aug. 29

Time: 8 a.m. to approx. 6 p.m.

Details: The Gran Fondo PEI cycling event will return to Charlottetown travelling through Charlottetown streets.

Traffic Impacts: Cyclists will be escorted by Charlottetown Police Services as they depart from the Eastlink Centre Charlottetown and travel along Kensington Road, Garfield Street, Riverside Drive, Grafton Street, Water Street, Haviland Street, Rochford Street and Kent Street, before travelling through Victoria Park via the cycling lane. Riders will then exit the city via Brighton Road, North River Road, and Lower Malpeque Road.

Cyclists will re-enter Charlottetown from Stratford using the Hillsborough Bridge active transportation pathway. Riders will then travel along Grafton Street, pass through the Holland College parking lot, continue along the active transportation pathway and turn right onto Kensington Road before finishing at the PEI Brewing Company.

Motorists are asked to use caution, obey the directions of police and volunteers, and refrain from advancing until the sweep vehicle travelling behind the cyclists has passed.

The City of Charlottetown has installed two secure bicycle lockers at the Fitzroy Parkade located at 130 Fitzroy Street. These bike lockers are available to the public to rent for $20 per month on a first come, first serve basis.

The Bike Bus is now rolling in Sherwood! 🚴‍♀️

More than 40 kids and parent volunteers joined the ride this morning. It was all smiles, lots of energy, and packed school bike racks. Thanks to everyone who came out!
