Some people leave fingerprints on a club.
Others leave foundations.
This past weekend, the North Peace Rod & Gun Club was honoured to present the Mike Nielsen Commemorative High Overall Buckle, generously sponsored by Vicki Nielsen & family.
For many in our shooting community, Mike Nielsen was far more than just a shooter.
He was someone who showed up.
Someone who gave his time.
Someone who encouraged new shooters, helped keep trapshooting alive in our region, and quietly made an impact on countless people over the years through mentorship, friendship, dedication, and community.
People like Mike are the reason clubs like ours continue to exist generations later.
His impact reached far beyond scores and competition. It lives in the people he taught, the friendships he built, the stories shared around the clubhouse, and the passion for the sport that continues today because of people like him.
To help honour that legacy, we have also created a photo mosaic made up of hundreds of small trapshooting moments, memories, and photographs.
A reflection of the community, friendships, dedication, and years that helped shape both the sport and the club so many people know today.
Seeing the Mike Nielsen Commemorative HOA Buckle presented this weekend was incredibly meaningful for many in attendance, and we would like to sincerely thank Vicki Nielsen & family for making it possible.
Moments like this are an important reminder that clubs are built by people.
By volunteers.
By mentors.
By those willing to give their time, knowledge, and heart to something bigger than themselves.
And Mike Nielsen was absolutely one of those people.
