Coach Tanya, now teaching Yin Yoga!

Coach Tanya just completed her 20-hour Yin Yoga certification, adding to her already impressive 500+ hours of yoga instruction and personal training expertise. She's bringing you a practice built on a foundation of real resilience.

If you've been caught in the hustle, back-to-back meetings, kids' schedules, endless to-dos, then yoga might feel like another thing you're not "good enough" at.

"Yoga is for everybody and every body. You don't have to be
'good at yoga,' flexible, or even familiar the practice of yoga." - Coach Tanya

What's Yin yoga? It's slower, deeper, and more restorative than typical classes. You'll hold poses for 3-10 minutes, letting gravity and stillness gradually release what's been holding you tight. Combined with Tanya's signature blend of energizing Vinyasa movements, her classes deliver both the gains and the recovery your body deserves.

Life is loud. Yoga turns the noise down. It gives your body space to breathe, reconnect, and build the resilience that carries you through your week.

The South Huron Trail Race is back after 20 years and we were ready to support!

Opportunities for fitness are rare in small town communities, so huge shout out to the South Huron Trail committee and volunteers who made this happen. The funds raised will go to support the MacNaughton Trail which plays a crucial role in keeping our community active.

Rain didn’t stop the volunteers or the runners - including members of our Jolt Run Club! Shout out to Jolt Fam member Colleen Govers who finished third!

⚡️Should Jolt Run Club train for this together next summer? Comment YES below.

We’ve got a Jolt Run Club event and program announcement coming up in September so stay tuned to our Jolt Run Club facebook group for all the updates.

The weight on the scale going up may be a good thing...

Don't panic. That's not a red flag if you recently started resistance training. That might be the sign it's working.

Muscle is denser than fat. As your body composition shifts, the number on the scale can hold steady, or even climb, while your jeans fit better and your energy goes through the roof. Muscle simply takes up less space than body fat.

More muscle. Less body fat. That's the goal, and resistance training is the only proven tool that reliably gets you and keeps you there.

We dig into this myth (and two others holding people back) in our newest article: https://www.joltfitness.ca/blog/progressive-resistance-training

Hinge movements like deadlifts, RDLs, good mornings, and hamstring curls train the back of your body (your posterior chain). And for most of us, this is where the resilience gets built.

Most people should be training the back of their body about 2x as often as the front. Sometimes that’s built into one workout, sometimes it’s balanced across your week, it’s strategy, not guesswork. Our Lift program uses this ratio for balanced and strategic training.

Why You Might Need Even More Posterior Work:
✔️Knee, hip, or back pain
✔️Sport performance goals
✔️Glute growth goals
✔️Postnatal recovery

Your body compensations and goals are individual, which means your program should be too.

Not sure what YOUR balance looks like?

Book a personal training session with us and we’ll test your strength balance to find out exactly where you need more upper, lower, pushing, or pulling work.

Someone told you lifting is bad for your back, knees, hips, etc...

That advice is costing you your high quality life.

I's not the load that hurts you... It's a lack of capacity to handle the load. Your joints don't need less resistance. Your body needs a coach who builds you up to handle more, safely. You need to create the resilient body that can handle the demands of your life.

"It's astounding the number of people who start at the gym who have to take daily pain killers just to get by each day... It's even more astounding that almost all of them get off the daily advent calendar of pills when they start a progressive resistance training program. Truly life changing." - Coach Siggy

We broke down the research, the myths, and the exact strategy behind progressive resistance training in our new article. Squat, hinge, lunge, push, pull, core. This is how you build a a resilient body and high quality life.

The most unexpected change of motherhood ⤵️

Motherhood changes your identity, your routine, your body, but ypu probably didn’t expect it to change your perception of fitness.

Now, fitness isn’t about a dress size. It’s about being strong enough to handle what life actually throws at you. Us moms at Jolt l, we get it… carrying kids, hauling bags, chasing toddlers. We’ve broken a sweat before school drop-off even happens.

That’s what the gym is for: building your capacity so life outside these doors is smoother, stronger, better. We train for resilient bodies that can play mini sticks for hours, jump on the trampoline, bike the trail. We train for a high-quality life and the strength, energy, and capacity to actually thrive in it.

If this sounds like you, it’s time to build your foundation.

Our post-natal rehab program meets you wherever you are, 6 weeks postpartum or 6 years. It’s never too late to build a safe, effective base for a lifetime of strength.

📅 Starts August 31st | Mon/Wed 10:15am
✅ Pre-registration required
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family-friendly facility, all kids welcome

The only workout you regret is the one you didn’t do. It’s time to prioritize you.
