What a weekend.

Ok folks, this is gonna be a long one.

I want to thank you very very much for attending the 28th Max Ice Hockey Tournament and Last Beer at the Pioneer.

Thank you to the teams and referees who put on a tremendous show while being absolute beauties. These guys showed true class and sportsmanship all weekend.

Thank you to the patrons who came out to show your support for hockey in Castlegar and to reflect on the past 67 years at the Pioneer.

Thank you to all the amazing volunteers who dedicated their time to make this tournament happen. We would be nothing without your support.

Thanks to everyone who supported the charity raffle which raised over $1000 for the community.

I want to congratulate our champions: Cellar Dwellers in the Legends Division and The North East Dynamiters in the Beauties division. Also, I want to make note of the 2 tremendous games we had on Saturday night and the final game on Sunday. I don’t think I’ve ever seen better hockey at the Pioneer than those 2 games. Great job Dekes of Hazard, AxeMen and the Dynamiters - you should be proud of your performance.

One last big shout out to our lead tournament organizer Martin who makes it all happen all weekend long. Another fantastic job once again!

We hope you all enjoyed your last beer at the Pioneer.

Folks! It’s the last day of the Pioneer Arena.

Let’s make the best of it and go out with a bang!!

Firing up at 10:30am we have the Cellar Dwellers looking to take the Legends title with a win against Max Ice. Will Max Ice pull themselves out of the gutter and play spoiler or will The Dwellers take care of business?

Then at 11:55am the ferocious Sunday Knights look to keep in the win column against Legend opponents Interfor. This could be a championship game if Max Ice shocks the world against the Dwellers.

Right after at 1:20pm the AxeMen and BV Avalanche both look to get in the win column is this match up for third overall in the Beauties division.

Then at 2:45pm we have the Championship Game in the Beauties Division to finish off the tourney:

Dekes of Hazard vs North East Dynamiters

The multiple time champions vs the new kids on the block.

Who will win take home the Max Ice Trophy and become the last team to win at the LEGENDARY Pioneer Arena!??

Listen up!

We are back on the iconic Pioneer Rink at 2:45pm today where the Sunday Knights and tournament hosts Max Ice look to rebound after Friday losses.

Next up at 4:10pm we have the victors from Friday nights Legends games facing off as the Cellar Dwellers and Interfor battle it out.

Then at 5:30pm we got some high flying puck in the Beauties division as the BV Avalanche look to rebound against the North East Dynamiters.

Now the game you’ve all been waiting for…

AXEMEN VS DEKES OF HAZARD
7:00pm start

This is the big one folks. Both these past winners have been going head to head for years. Who will prevail one last time!?

Grab a pop at the gardens with a charity card raffle ticket and enjoy the last Max Ice Tournament at the Pioneer Arena.

It will be buzzing!!

Alright folks,

We got 4 beauty games lined up tonight to kick off the 28th Max Ice Tournament.

First up at 5:30pm in the Legends division we have the Cellar Dwellers crawling out of the basement to take on the Sunday Knights.

Next up at 6:55pm we have our tourney hosts Max Ice squaring up against Interfor, who only use wood sticks btw. 🏒

Then the real action starts at 8:20pm in the Beauties division with the Dekes of Hazard and BV Avalanche setting the tone.

Our closer for tonight begins at 9:45pm with newcomers North East Dynamiters looking to chop down the AxeMen.

Check out the card raffle up in the Beer gardens which start at 5pm and ends at Midnight.
