Update 09/04 — Thanks to CTFN guardians moving the carcass and scavengers doing their thing over the week, there is very little left of last week's wolf kill. We are marking Nares View and Mtn Hero Access trails as open. That said, please be bear aware and keep dogs on leash — or better yet, at home. Original post: We have just received news of a large and very freshly killed caribou just uphill of Nares View entrance. CTFN game guardians are aware of the issue and will be on scene in the morning. Nares View and Mtn hero access will be marked as closed as a precaution.

‼️ Alpine Trail Access Closed Due to Bear Incident ⚠️ ‼️ PLEASE SHARE
Please be advised that there has been a bear incident on MONTANA MOUNTAIN, and there is reason to believe the bear may be injured.
C/TFN has requested that users avoid all trails accessing the alpine until Guardians and Conservation Officers can assess the situation. In the interests of public safety, the following trails/routes are TEMPORARILY CLOSED:
• Access to the Mountain Hero Trail
• The Mountain Hero Trail itself
• The Brute Mountain and Sam McGee routes (as described in Yukon Hiking)
We also ask all trail users to exercise extreme caution on all other trails and to follow these important safety tips:
• Keep pets leashed at all times
• Carry bear spray and know how to use it
• Travel in groups and make noise
• Report any further sightings to Carcross RCMP

This is the time of the year, give sheeps space!

Please respect the voluntary closures on Caribou Mountain, Nares Mountain, Needle Mountain, and White Mountain.
If you find yourself in the presence of sheep while out on the trail, stop and observe. Did they get up from a bedded position, are they watching you intently, or actively moving away from you? If so, you're likely disturbing them. As they spend time watching or avoiding you, they aren't consuming important calories or taking care of their young. It can take up to 45 minutes for sheep to return to normal behaviour after a disturbance. It's time to turn around or find a detour that won't disturb the animals.
