In the Shadow of Thor - An Akshayuk Pass Trekking Adventure
Not everyone is ready—or able—to commit to the full Akshayuk Pass Traverse. For 2027, we’re introducing a shorter way to experience the extraordinary mountains, valleys, and Arctic wilderness of Auyuittuq National Park.
In the Shadow of Thor is a 5–6 day hiking expedition from Pangnirtung into one of Canada’s most dramatic landscapes. This is an opportunity to hike beneath towering granite walls, move through the broad glacial valley of Akshayuk Pass, camp in true Arctic wilderness, and stand in the presence of legendary Mount Thor.
It is still a real expedition: remote, rugged, and deeply rewarding—but designed for hikers who want an immersive Baffin Island trekking experience without committing to the full multi-week pass traverse.
Expect big landscapes, long northern light, powerful river valleys, Arctic wildlife, and the kind of wilderness experience that stays with you long after you return home.
