A great week up on the Wapta Icefields based out of Bow Hut for Yamnuska Mountain Adventures Intro to Mountaineering course. We covered hazards, roping up, route finding, navigation, snow/ice anchors, crevasse rescue and much more. The accommodation was scenic, the food was delicious and the company was excellent! I’m heading back up for another one Aug 23-28 so please come join.

It’s been a great month of delivering rock courses! I get a lot of satisfaction from offering training and mentorship. It feels great to pass on my knowledge, skills and experience from 35 years of climbing to the next wave of keen adventurers. I love the variety that my work provides. In the past few weeks I have taught sport climbing, rock rescue, multi-pitch systems, trad climbing, short roping and aid climbing, and even a couple ACMG guides course to round out the mix.

Super fun week of deep learning on my Advanced Ice Leader Camp. We dialled in steep ice movement, lead strategy, multi-pitch efficiency and technical systems. Everyone did a bunch of solid leads and expanded their experience and skill set. I’m already looking forward to teaching this course again next winter!

But in the meantime, be sure to check out my Rock Leader Camp (June 8-12) with . We will do a deep dive into lead strategies, trad protection/anchors, rock rescue training and multi-pitch systems for summer rock. Check out the link in my profile to learn more and register (limited space).

Over three decades of mixed climbing and I still love it! Every year I offer a three-day mixed course and it’s always a highlight of my season.
