This is a photo of me at CTP #44. June 2004. I am 22 years old. I remember this photo being taken. It’s been a long time since I have seen it, because it lives in a photo album (yup, that old). I took a picture with my phone to be able to use it in an upcoming talk.
I don’t remember why I don’t have my shoes on, but it’s not important.
I have been asked to speak at numerous events in the last little bit about my experience as a corrections officer, mental health, and about wellness for first responders.
It’s super interesting and healing to look back on my journey. As difficult as it was and sometimes still is - I would not change a thing.
To this day, I’m curious…if I knew what I was signing up for would I have done it anyway?
The answer is probably.
I like a challenge. I like uncertainty. I like excitement. I am kind of relentless when I put my mind to something.
Life is wild. I am grateful for all the opportunities, adventures, and memories along the way.
Speaking at the Helping the Helpers Conference this weekend. So excited to share my story and connect with other first responders.
