CR DanceXtreme Campbell River's premiere dance school, promoting confidence, creativity, discipline, belonging, in a safe, healthy environment. If you ask - we will dance!

Our mission is to equip our students to excel at dance and to succeed in life! We offer a comprehensive curriculum that includes instruction in tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, lyrical and musical theatre. Classes are available to all - 3 years and older. We offer 8 week recreational classes for our youngest dancers. As well as full year recreational programs, and full year competitive programs. Our re

creational programs are designed to provide beginner, intermediate and experienced dancers the ability to learn and love dance in a fun, supportive environment. Dancers have the opportunity to perform for family and friends at the year end recital. Our competitive programs offer the fun and instruction of regular classes, with the added excitement of competition. Dancers have the opportunity to travel throughout BC, Canada and the United States to showcase their routines in both and large venues. Our dancers are also routinely invited to dance at local community events, festivals and galas.

✨ MEET BUDDY ✨

As we celebrate 20 seasons of dancing at CRX, we’re so excited to shine a spotlight on one of the people who has helped shape CRX into the studio it is today, one of our Directors, Buddy Mynatt!

We asked Buddy the same questions we asked our incredible faculty, giving you a chance to get to know the people behind the studio a little better. Here’s what Buddy had to say 👇

🕺 What do you love most about teaching dance?
“Having fun with my students and doing what I love.”

🔥 Favourite style of dance to teach and perform?
“Hip Hop, but I love to perform all styles.”

⛳ What do you like to do in your free time?
“Golf or working out.”

🎭 A non-dance-related fun fact?
“My first passion for the arts was acting. I was the lead in a high school play where I had to learn and remember over 700 lines!”

We think that last one deserves a round of applause! 👏

For 20 seasons, Buddy’s passion, creativity and love for his students have been such an important part of the CRX story. From teaching and performing to leading and inspiring, he continues to bring energy, heart and a whole lot of fun into everything he does.

We are so lucky to have Buddy at the heart of CRX and can’t wait to see what this 20th season brings! Here’s to another season of dancing, dreaming, growing, laughing and making memories together.

We are beyond excited to welcome back Carol Leiman for the 2026/2027 dance season as our Studio Manager! 💕

Carol officially joined the CR DanceXtreme staff in the summer of 2015, and she quickly became more than just a welcoming face. Her role grew into studio manager, where she now oversees competitive events and schedules, keeps the front desk running smoothly, and communicates closely with parents to ensure everything is organized and professional.

We asked Carol some questions so you can get to know her even better, and we can’t wait to share her answers with you all!

1. The thing I love most about working at CRX is the people! I love getting to know new students and parents each season, and I love welcoming back our returning students. Not to mention, our faculty are wonderful people to work with.

2. My favourite styles of dance to watch are a stylized jazz routine or an intricate tap routine.

3. On my days off, you can usually find me on my comfy cozy bed with a crochet project in my hand and a British murder mystery on the TV.

3. A fun fact about me is I was born with three kidneys; as was my mom, and my mom sister.

PLOT TWIST... We thought our 20th season needed a splashy opening, but this is definitely not what we had in mind!

Sadly, our studio experienced an unexpected flood this past weekend. While it certainly wasn’t the way we imagined beginning such a special milestone season, we are incredibly grateful for the people who have jumped in, helped out and worked tirelessly to get us one step closer to welcoming our dancers home.

The good news? It’s only water! 🩵 Once everything is completely dry, the floors can be repaired and rebuilt.

We have had restoration specialists working tirelessly over the past few days, but with how extensive the damage is, we need to delay the start of our dance season by one week:

COMPETITIVE CLASSSES
Your official first day back is Monday, September 14.

RECREATIONAL CLASSES
Recreational classes will officially begin the following week, beginning Monday, September 21.

WEEKEND CHOREOGRAPHY
All Competitive choreography scheduled for this weekend will continue as planned from Friday, September 11 through Sunday, September 13.

We know how excited our dancers are to get back into the studio. Trust us… we are even more excited to have you back. But we want to make sure everything is safe, dry and ready before we officially kick off our 20th season. The restoration equipment will soon be removed, and each studio will be cleaned, repaired and refreshed one at a time. Our goal is to keep any inconvenience or interruption to our dancers and families to an absolute minimum.

While this certainly wasn’t the splashy opening we had planned for our 20th anniversary, we’re choosing to look at the bright side. Our dancers will soon have beautifully refreshed studios and brand-new flooring to dance on!

Thank you for your patience. Thank you for your understanding. Thank you for your flexibility. And most of all, thank you for being the kind of community that makes CRX feel like home. We cannot wait to see our dancers back where they belong: in the studio, together, doing what they love. 🩵

1. What do you love most about teaching dance? Watching kids grow…not just as dancers, but as people. As well as kids coming out of their shell and creating a space where they feel safe!

3. What do you like to do in your free time? Fishing, boating and camping.

4. What is a non-dance related fun fact about you? I speak polish fluently 🇵🇱

1. The things I love most about teaching dance are sharing my passion for it with others and experiencing that lightbulb moment when someone finally gets something they’ve been working hard on.

2. My favourite style of dance to teach is lyrical, and my favourite style of dance to perform is tap.

3. In my free time I enjoy reading, baking and spending time with my husband, kids and friends.

4. A fun fact about me is I absolutely love reading. I’ve already read 130 books this year, and my goal is 175!

We are beyond excited to welcome back Taylor Russell for the 2026/2027 dance season! 💕

1. My favourite part of teaching dance is that I love sharing my passion for dance with my students and making their experience as positive, exciting and enjoyable as possible. I love bringing the same excitement and energy I’ve always had for dance into every class.

2. My favourite style of dance to perform will always be musical theatre and Broadway-style jazz, but I will always love teaching lyrical because of the emotion and storytelling.

3. In my free time, I love camping, fishing and spending quality time with my loved ones.

4. A fun fact about me is that I’m currently working toward my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and am entering my second year in the program.

Some of the sweetest memories begin with a little music and a whole lot of imagination. ✨

For our tiniest dancers, dance is so much more than learning steps. It’s finding the courage to twirl, discovering the joy of music, making new friends and letting their little personalities shine. Our Disney Dance Ballet class is a magical introduction to dance for ages 3–4, filled with beloved songs, imagination and plenty of opportunities to explore music and movement in a playful, nurturing environment.

We’d love to welcome a few more little dancers into this special class! If your little one has been waiting for their chance to dance, this could be their moment to sparkle. ✨

1. What do you love most about teaching dance? Seeing the dancers perform on stage and having all of their hours of work pay off ❤️

2. What is your favourite style of dance to teach and perform? My favourite style to teach and perform is lyrical!

3. What do you like to do in your free time? I like to scuba dive, travel and try fun new coffee shops!

4. What is a non-dance related fun fact about you? Outside of dance, I am also a marine biologist working in coastal research on Quadra Island!
