One of our former players, Hayden Hunt, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma — a bone cancer — just days ago. He's 17. His family is now facing months of chemotherapy and surgery at BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver.
As islanders, we know what that means. Getting to Vancouver isn't simple or inexpensive, and when your child is sick, that distance becomes one more thing to carry. Hayden's family is from Port Hardy, and the road ahead involves a lot of time away from home, with all the travel and accommodation costs that come with it.
