Since 1967, Campbell River Boxing & Fitness Club has been built by its community. This year, we were proud to celebrate that legacy.
A few weeks ago, we held Sponsor Appreciation & Awards event. It was about bringing together the people who helped rebuild this club and recognizing the athletes, volunteers, sponsors, families, and community partners who made our first season back possible.
This year also marked an important milestone in our clubâs history. Some of our memorial trophies date back as far as 1971, and this season we were honoured to continue that tradition.
The Athlete of the Year Award is now presented as the Jim Howie Memorial Athlete of the Year Award, while the Dedication in Sport Award now proudly carries the name Charlie John Memorial Dedication in Sport Award. It was especially meaningful (and emotional) to have Charlie Johnâs family present the award in his honour.
We were honoured to welcome Chief Chris Roberts of Wei Wai K*m First Nation and Coach Junior Henderson, who shared encouraging words in support of the club and our IMPACT Indigenous Youth Boxing Program.
A special thank you to Chea Beauchemin of Beauchemin Roofing Ltd, one of the very first people to believe in our clubâs return. Che has stood with us from the beginning, and we were honoured to have him present this yearâs Dedicated Member Awards.
Our sincere thanks also go to Wei Wai K*m First Nation, the LKT Health / LigÌÊ·iĆdaxÊ· Health Society Health Society, Coral Duncan, and the many businesses, organizations, and individuals who have sponsored our club throughout the season. As a volunteer-run, non-profit society, we simply couldnât do this without you. Every contribution has helped create opportunities for local youth and strengthen our community.
Congratulations to our 2026 award recipients:

Campbell River Boxing & Fitness Club, established in 1967, has always been about more than boxing. Itâs about confidence, discipline, resilience, friendships, mentorship, and belonging.
When we took on the challenge of bringing this club back, we had one simple belief: if we gave to the community, the community would give back.
Campbell River has proven that belief true.
To every athlete, parent, coach, volunteer, sponsor, donor, and supporterâthank you. This club belongs to all of us, and weâre honoured to carry its legacy into the next generation.
Hereâs to another great season ahead.
Our 2026-2027 season resumes on August 17th.
