Alumni Spotlight 💡⛸️

From first strides with Cambridge Speed Skating Club to competing on the national circuit Sebastian Champagne proves where trying speed skating at your local club can take you.

Since transitioning to the Calgary Olympic Oval program in 2018, Sebastian represented Team Ontario in the 2019 Canada Winter Games, made the leap to Long Track in 2021, and is currently ranked amoung Canada’s Top 10 sprint speed skaters. 🇨🇦⚡️

Off the ice, he completed his Geology degree at the University of Calgary, is competing his Master’s, and trains under fellow Alumni Kevin Crockett 🎓⏱️

🏁 A Little Cambridge Speed Skating Check-in…

We thought we’d share a little glimpse of where.Félix Paiement, 15 yo racer, is today. Félix is currently training at the the National Training Centre with CRCE, and these clips are from a fun race camp last week.

Fast racing, hard-fought laps, lots of learning- and clearly, still plenty of fun along the way! 🙂

But what we love most about seeing this is the journey that started right here in Cambridge.

A huge thank you to the Cambridge coaching team and volunteers who helped build the skills, confidence and love of skating that gave Felix a strong foundation to continue developing at the next level. 👏

And for our current skaters - keep showing up, keep learning, keep challenging yourself and most importantly, keep having fun.

You never know where those first laps at Cambridge might take you. ❤️
