Jumpstart I Love Cricket

This free cricket program is offered for children who are currently on Fee Assistance, in partnership with The City of Calgary Recreation and Canadian Tire Jumpstart. This introduction to cricket will teach players the basics of cricket including rules, batting, bowling, fielding and wicket keeping. No previous experience required for this co-ed program. Emphasis is on fair play, sportsmanship and team play. Equipment will be provided.

We're pleased to announce that free public Wi-Fi access is now available at 27 Calgary Recreation locations across the city including the most recent addition, the Calgary Soccer Centre. A full list of facilities offering Public Wi-Fi is available on Calgary.ca/publicWiFi.

The City of Calgary awarded Shaw Communications the contract to provide public Wi-Fi in City-owned locations in December 2013. There are over 40 City facilities connected to public Wi-Fi including recreation centres, arenas, golf courses and CTrain stations. The service is available to any member of the general public and does not require a Shaw account.

The most popular recreation location based on guest connections is the Southland Leisure Centre, with over 160,000 connections to the network since the launch of public Wi-Fi in 2014. There have been over 3,000,000 connections to the Calgary public Wi-Fi service in total, with total data usage of almost 4,000,000 MB.

Artificial Turf Replacement (Main Building) Oct. 17 - 28

The City of Calgary is replacing the aging artificial turf on the four fields in the main building at the Calgary Soccer Centre. This work will improve player experience and safety. The lower concourse, including player change rooms, will be closed during maintenance of the fields. The upper concourse, which includes the main office, pro shop, public washrooms, and food and beverage services, will remain open. The annex and outdoor fields will remain open and are available for booking and drop-in play. We appreciate your patience while we make these important upgrades.

The Youth Passport gives youth (ages 7-17) unlimited access to all City facilities, all summer long. It costs $50. The offer gets even better if the Youth Passport customer presents a valid youth July or August Calgary Transit Pass at time of purchase – with that it's only $25.

Have you heard about our Jumpstart - I Love Soccer program?

This FREE Indoor Soccer program is offered in partnership with the Recreation in The City of Calgary and Canadian Tire Jumpstart. This program is for children who are on Fee Assistance who have little or no soccer experience to learn basic soccer skills and have fun. Shinpads and T-shirt supplied!
