Sadly-A fatal aircraft crash in Kananaskis Country has left one person dead.

The aircraft reportedly went down near the Mount McDougall area on Saturday morning, September 5. According to CTV News, witnesses in the area saw an aircraft appearing to be in difficulty at around 9:20 a.m. before emergency crews were contacted.

STARS Air Ambulance responded to the incident, and the Transportation Safety Board of Canada is gathering information.

The aircraft type, identity of the deceased, number of people onboard and cause of the crash have not yet been publicly confirmed.

More information will be shared as it is released by authorities.

On Sept 1, a man survived a grizzly bear attack.

🐕 THE DETAIL EVERY DOG OWNER SHOULD SIT WITH
This is the part worth repeating, gently and without blame.
An off-leash dog will often run toward a bear, then run back — straight to its owner. The dog escapes. The person doesn't. Wildlife agencies across Canada have flagged this pattern for years. It is one of the most common ways an ordinary walk turns into an emergency.
A leash isn't a rule for your dog's sake. On bear country trails, it's a rule for yours.

Bears in area on skoki trail.

⚠️Bear Warning – Skoki Valley Trails

🐻A bear warning is in place for the Skoki Valley area, including Skoki Lodge, Hidden Lake, Merlin Meadows, Baker Lake, Red Deer Lake, Deception Pass and Cotton Grass Pass.

A grizzly bear has been frequenting the area and was reported to have a close encounter with a solo hiker and their dog.

Parks Canada reminds visitors to exercise additional caution when hiking in the fall as bears are focused on preparing for winter.

Make noise, carry bear spray in an accessible place and know how to use it, and consider leaving dogs at home. If you do bring your pets, always keep them on leash.

If you encounter a bear stay calm, give the animal space, and consider leaving the area.

Do not run or drop your backpack.

🦌⚠️ Rutting Season is Underway: Give Elk Space! ⚠️🦌

From late summer through autumn, bull elk are focused on breeding and can become aggressive toward people, pets, and vehicles.

Remember:
• Keep at least 30 metres away
• Keep your dog leashed and under control
• Be alert! Watch for warning signs such as bugling, antler displays, and charging behaviour
• Don't place yourself between a bull and females
• Don't park your vehicle where it may block elk movement
