In Loving Memory of Austin Shields
September 21, 2002 – August 6, 2026
Alberta District 3 is deeply saddened by the passing of Austin Shields.
Austin's love and passion for baseball were evident from a young age. As a proud Sunridge Little League alumnus, he was a fixture on the diamonds at Rundle Lawn, where he spent countless hours throughout his Little League career developing his skills, building friendships, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Even as I write this, I still remember the small-framed young boy who worked so hard to become a catcher. He gave everything he had to the position, inning after inning, game after game. And he was damn good at it. His determination, toughness, and love for the game were evident to everyone who watched him play.
For someone so small in stature, he rarely missed a pitch. Time and time again, he would settle in behind the plate, receive the ball with confidence, and take pride in every inning he caught. What made Austin even more special was that his talent wasn't limited to catching. His ability as a pitcher was equally impressive, and he approached every opportunity on the mound with the same dedication, competitiveness, and passion that defined his love for baseball.
The friendships he forged, the memories he created, and the spirit he brought to the game will never be forgotten. Austin's impact reached far beyond the baseball field, and he will always be remembered by those whose lives he touched.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his mother, Crystal Wyatt, and to all of Austin's family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you mourn the loss of a beloved son, family member, and friend.
Austin's legacy will live on in the baseball community he loved so dearly, and his memory will forever remain a part of Alberta District 3 and the diamonds where his baseball journey began.
A Memorial Service will be held at Rundlelawn Senior Diamond on August 22 @ 230pm
