🚨🚨Student Takeover! 🚨🚨
Hi everyone, it’s Matthaus, a 2nd year MScPT student at VersaMC! While I played many sports as a teenager/young adult, I decided to take golf seriously at the age of 19, a journey that has led me to play in multiple national championships since. I’ll be diving into how physiotherapy ties in with ensuring you have the physical capacity needed to make an efficient and powerful swing, while minimizing the risk of injury. 👊
While I can’t give you Rory McIlroy’s silky swing (or Tommy Fleetwood’s silky hair 💇), I can give you the tools to start looking at the golf swing as an athlete! 🤾
We all want to hit bombs, but it’s hard to drive it past your buddies when you are injured! 🤕 Next week, I’ll be breaking down on how PT can help identify and modify risk factors that can predispose one to injuries during the golf swing (hint, hint….both Evan and Mat are TPI certified…😉). Where do most golfing injuries originate from, you may ask? Short Answer: it’s complicated (just like this stupid yet wonderful game….🤬😀🤬)
Check out our story today for a couple quiz questions that will get you thinking! 🧠
Stay tuned-in two weeks I’ll be dropping some ideas on movements you can incorporate into your fitness regimen to become a better golf athlete and hit pain-free bombs more often! I’ll also be providing some very simple golf-specific tidbits you can look at in your own game to stay healthy and in the swing of things this upcoming season. Don’t worry, I won’t pollute your head with a billion swing tips, I’ll leave that to your regular foursome. 🏌️🏌️🏌️🏌️.
For those of you who want to get academic with me, a full breakdown of everything will be posted in a blog to the Versa MC website. 🤓 🤓
Stay swinging!
-Matt
