The end of an era was celebrated today as we gathered to reflect on what this space has been able to provide for thousands of people who have walked through our doors.
On January 9, 2026 this space will no longer be but the magic that was co-created here cannot be contained within 4 walls. Rather each of us will go out to spread the positive movement of into the next era.
Words cannot express the sentiment and gravity of today and for the last 20 years. So we’ll leave it with the last coaching words from Coach Brett, KEEP THE CHALK IN THE BUCKET! 😉

Get • Every year, as our community gets fitter and fitter, new trends emerge that everyone collectively seems to suddenly embrace.

Sometimes they stick around for a year or two before fading into the past, like the Buddy Lee skipping rope and Vibram FiveFinger shoes of 2009.

Other times, though, they’re revolutionary and become staples in our community, like the Reebok Nanos or the butterfly pull-up Brett Marshall introduced at the 2007 CrossFit Games.

Dear members, Rhiannon and I have been trying to come up with something that we could offer to you all as a keepsake of your time at CFC. Our discussions always led us back to our roots, to the foundation that we established and used to build CrossFit Calgary. As you have all relayed, CrossFit Calgary is not just our gym, it is our community. It is a community that was built with purpose and it is a purpose that each of you has embraced and grown. Our impact is absolutely the product of each of you. The beauty of our experience is simply a reflection of our values and the mission that we created. Our values were posted proudly at the entrance to our gym ( , Believe in people, Cultivate knowledge, Foster community and Compete to be better) and our mission displayed in large letters across our wall inside, LIFTING OURSELVES AND ONE ANOTHER. For those that would like, we have created the poster shown on our IG post. There is also a sample at CFC. It will be for sale on the kiosk at CFC until the end of our social on the 20th. Once the orders are in we will send to print and arrange for a pick-up and instructions once complete.

CFC is a beautiful gym with lots of light, a spacious layout, and bright and crisp colors but much of the top quality appearances is in thanks to the people who took care of the cleanliness for our gym each night for decades.
Darbie and his incredible team of professional and detail oriented staff made sure that when we walked into CFC every morning at 6am, we were met with a clean and bright space to do what we do best. And with how much we know the crew loves to use chalk, that’s no small order! 😳😆
CrossFitters love to celebrate hard work so we want to give a shout out to the some of the hardest working crew members who’ve most of us haven’t ever met. 🙏🏼
Thank you Darbie and Superhero Cleaners for providing us with the excellence in cleanliness we’d expect for our beloved box. ❤️💙

Congratulations to the Crew who did not disappoint in their efforts to during the competition this weekend.
came out on top of the leaderboard and .k1 made the Crew proud with her performance all weekend.
Many thanks to everyone who put on this great event, for all the competitor’s supporters who came out to cheer these athletes on and for our Crew who always show up in the spirit of ❤️💙

This note on our PR wall is one we take to heart. It makes us so grateful that the impact we had on human movement is only shadowed by the impact we made on people’s hearts.
was the mission that Brett coined when we first opened our doors and it shaped everything we did. With every WOD, every interaction, every white board talk our 4 values and led us.

This message is a testament to the legacy we hoped we would leave 🥹

The best part of the is the pre-WOD whiteboard talk and nobody inspires the Crew quite like Coach
Today’s talk is all about carrying forward gratitude and how time spent together will forever have an impact. Coach Josh speaks poignantly how our together as the CFC Crew, and the fitness we gained and the experiences we shared will never be lost and will forever be carried forward making us stronger, better, happier humans.
How well we move and the vast knowledge we gained is only matched by the positive impact we will have in as we head on our future paths. And for that we are forever grateful 🙏🏼
