🏏 Crescent Stars Cricket Club – Season Recap

What a remarkable season for the Crescent Stars Family!

Our Weekday Division 2 team made history — champions in their very first season! 🏆

In the T20 Premier Division, we finished in the top 2, fought some thrilling playoff battles, and though we fell short in the eliminator, the spirit was unstoppable.

Our One Day team dominated the table all season, reaching the final and narrowly missing the title in a close encounter.

Meanwhile, Crescent Stars ICC, our Division 1 squad, played their hearts out and missed playoff qualification by just a blink — proud of their fight till the very end.

A huge thank you to every player, captain, and supporter who gave their time, energy, and passion to make this season unforgettable.

The Crescent Stars shine brighter each year — and trust us, we’re coming back even stronger next season!

—-Crescent Stars Cricket Club Triumphs in Rain-Interrupted Thriller Against Calgary Eagles—-

In a gripping match under overcast skies, Crescent Stars Cricket Club emerged victorious against Calgary Eagles, securing a win by 7 wickets via the DL method. The game, held at Inland cricket ground, was a testament to skill, strategy, and resilience in challenging conditions.

Calgary Eagles won the toss and elected to bat first. Despite the damp and unpredictable weather, the Eagles managed a total of 116 runs before being bowled out. Joga Bhandal was a notable performer, scoring a steady 23 off 23 balls, while Gurwinder Dhaliwal top-scored with an impressive 30 off 26 balls. Our bowlers were relentless, with Amin and Alaik leading the attack, both claiming 3 wickets each. Mehdi chipped in with 2 crucial wickets, and our captain Shafaq also took a wicket to wrap up the innings.

Chasing a modest total, Crescent Stars faced the additional challenge of looming rain clouds. Captain Shafaq led from the front with a blazing 32 off 18 balls, including two massive sixes and two elegant fours, setting the tone for the chase. Hamza Ilyas contributed a steady 27 off 25 balls helped the team get closer to the target, while Ali Cheema matched his effort with another solid 27 off 24 balls.

As the rain began to fall, the game was delicately poised. However, our top-order batsmen's quick runs ensured that Crescent Stars were ahead of the required rate. The match was eventually decided by the Duckworth-Lewis method, with Crescent Stars declared winners by 7 wickets.

This victory was a team effort, showcasing excellent bowling discipline and batting aggression. The bowlers' ability to restrict Calgary Eagles to a low total in such conditions was commendable, and the batsmen's poise under pressure ensured a successful chase despite the rain interruptions.

In a thrilling encounter on May 4, 2024, Crescent Stars 1 showcased a masterclass performance, defeating Glenmore Braves by a commanding 46 runs. The stage was set for a high-octane clash, and Crescent Stars delivered an unforgettable spectacle.

Batting first, Crescent Stars posted an imposing total of 199/3 in their allotted 20 overs. The star of the innings was undoubtedly the captain, Hussain Shafaq, who played a captain's knock, remaining unbeaten on a scintillating 105 off just 67 balls. His innings, laced with 5 boundaries and 6 towering sixes, was a display of pure class and aggression. Shafaq's leadership and determination were evident as he steered the team towards a formidable total.

Supporting Shafaq was Ali Cheema, who played a crucial role with a brisk 52 off 30 deliveries, including 2 fours and 4 sixes. The duo's partnership was instrumental in building the momentum for Crescent Stars. Danish Ahmad also chipped in with a valuable 25 off 18 balls, setting the tone early in the innings.

Glenmore Braves faced an uphill battle chasing 200, but Crescent Stars' bowlers ensured that the target remained out of reach.
