On National Horse Day, we celebrate the remarkable animals that have helped shape Alberta's story.

From the horses that carried settlers across the prairies, to the steadfast donkeys and hardworking mules that supported farms, ranches, and communities, these animals have been trusted partners in building our province's heritage.

Today, they continue to enrich our lives through sport, recreation, agriculture, companionship, and the deep connections they create with people of all ages.

As we honour Alberta's equine legacy, let's also celebrate the horse owners, riders, drivers, breeders, volunteers, and enthusiasts who keep that legacy alive for future generations.

Happy National Horse Day, Canada. Here's to the horses, donkeys, and mules that have carried us forward—and the people who cherish them. ❤️🐴🫏

In the equestrian world, our shared love of horses brings together people from all walks of life. This month, we celebrate and support the 2SLGBTQIA+ members of our equestrian community who make our sport, industry, and trails stronger, more vibrant, and more welcoming.

Horses don't judge; they teach us trust, partnership, and respect. Let's continue building a community where everyone feels safe, valued, and empowered to be themselves, both in and out of the saddle.

Meet Jessa Arnold, AEF’s Membership Coordinator! 🐴

Jessa has been with AEF for 4 years and plays a key role in keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes. Her days are a mix of emails, memberships, problem-solving, and the occasional “quick fix” that turns into a full puzzle to solve. From helping members get set up and active, to answering questions, processing registrations, and keeping records accurate, no two days look the same—but staying organized and supporting members is always the priority.

Her favourite part of the role? Connecting with members, hearing their stories, and attending events where she gets to put faces to names and see the community in action.

Outside of work, Jessa enjoys trail riding with her semi-retired horse, and her ideal barn day looks like a slow summer “spa day”—a groom, some quiet time in the wash bay (even if her horse disagrees), and ending the day relaxing in the pasture with no rush to be anywhere else.
