Tucker Hockey Head Instructor Damian Benjamin and Assistant Business Manager Candace DiGiacomo enjoyed an afternoon at Spruce Meadows for Sport Calgary Celebration of Sport. It was a wonderful celebration of sport, highlighting the people and organizations that help lower the barriers to youth participation in sport. The afternoon included a very engaging and inspiring Panel, discussing the X Games coming to Calgary, the upcoming Grey Cup being hosted by Calgary, how important sport in the community is, and much more!

Thank you to all those involved in such a great event!

What is Evasive Skating?

Evasive skating is a tactical game situation skill. A skater seeks to evade, protect and keep the puck away from his or her opponents - to maintain possession of the puck, to make a play and to ultimately generate a scoring chance or a goal.
By performing effective evasive skating skills a player will limit his or her giveaways and turnovers in the game.

Technical Skating vs. Tactical Skating - What's the difference?

Technical skating refers to biomechanical principles applied to maximize all skating skills required in ice hockey. It is the fundamentals of skating.

Tactical skating is the ability to skate in all game situations offensively and defensively, with and without a puck. The time spent on deliberate practice and professional skating instruction will provide the core to play in various game situations.

Don’t miss out on our Adult Technical Skills / Fundamentals program running NEXT WEEK!!

🗓️ Monday August 31 to Thursday September 3
🕘 9:00 to 10:00 PM

This adult player development program focuses on the technical skills / fundamentals of:

🏒 Skating
🏒 Puck control
🏒 Passing
🏒 Shooting
🏒 Scrimmages

The program is weighted 60% on power skating and 40% on hockey skills. Although the program is presented in a group setting, our drills focus on the needs of the individual. There’s no reason to be concerned about other skaters being more skilled or less skilled in the group; it is a ‘go at your own pace’ program. It’s a ‘you and the drill’ hockey development philosophy.

This program is designed to help players improve their foot speed and overall striding speed both forwards and backwards. In addition, to elevate their tactical skating / game play from participating in a variety of tense / challenging small area games.
