Campfire Ban Lifted – Effective Today, September 3 at 12:00 PM

Following direction from the BC Wildfire Service, the prohibition on Category 1 campfires has been lifted across the Village of Cache Creek, effective 12:00 noon PDT today, September 3.

That means small recreational campfires are permitted again, but we're asking everyone to keep it responsible.

A Category 1 campfire means:
A fire no larger than 0.5 metres high by 0.5 metres wide
Used for recreational purposes, or by a First Nation for ceremonial purposes

Still prohibited, no exceptions:
Category 2 and Category 3 open fires
Fireworks
Burn barrels or burn cages of any size
If you have something not listed, check with the Village Office.

We're glad to see conditions improving, but it's been a dry season and it won't take much to undo the progress we've made. Please:
Keep campfires attended at all times
Have a way to extinguish it fully before you go
Check with the Village Office if you have questions about restrictions
Use good judgment: if it's windy or conditions feel off, hold off

Good morning, Cache Creek!

We got a good soaking overnight, and after a summer with wildfires on everyone's mind, the rain is a welcome sight.

All that water did move a few things around though. You will notice debris and gravel washed onto a number of our roads this morning. Our Public Works crew is already out working the priority spots to keep the busiest routes safe and passable.

We will be working through the rest of the cleanup over the next few days. If your street hasn't been cleared yet today, please bear with us. In the meantime, take it slow out there and give yourself a little extra time.
