Who we are:
Float N’ Flag Dive Centre is a full service 5 Star PADI Instructor Development Centre (IDC) serving Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, Kitchener and the Niagara region. We offer many things from courses to gear and the opportunity to meet some new diving buddies. To us, our customers are more than just customers, we are a family: a diving family. All of us at Float N' Flag are passionate divers, at all levels, and are committed to making your diving experience the best it can be. In other words, we want you to love diving as much as we love diving. To do that, we want you to be comfortable with all your current skills and we want you to continue learning new skills. This is why we offer courses from Discover Scuba to Instructor, and everything in between. We’ve been searching for, and testing, all kinds of new equipment, some of which will greatly enhance your diving experience, both locally and on trips. Introduce yourself and let us know what you need and we’ll do our best to help. What we do:
Whether you’re interested in our regular scuba lessons, the PADI online e-Learning scuba course, private lessons, a women’s only scuba class or just a place to meet other divers, this is the place to be. For teams, clubs, corporations, school or other groups, we can also help you with a unique program to focus participants on areas such as leadership, overcoming obstacles, teamwork and more. We are in the process of adding more courses and educational seminars for this coming year to help keep your training up to date and to facilitate new learning. Whether you want to find out more about dry suit diving or want to hear about re-breathers, Float N’ Flag will try to keep you updated on the latest trends. Our merchandise line-up is a blend of the solid favourites and a selection of the latest innovative products from the industry’s top manufacturers. We are also proud to be Ontario’s only dealer for Reactor Watches. Besides course offerings and quality gear, we also offer servicing, visual inspections and maintenance on a variety of equipment. Bring your gear in and we will let you know what we can do for you. Safety is a top priority for us here at Float N’ Flag, so we want to make sure your gear is properly maintained to keep you safe. With all that gear and training, you really need somewhere to use them, right? So why not join us on one of our annual trips? We take part in trips to tropical locations during the cooler months and stay up here during those warmer months. Each year, Float N’ Flag runs trips to Tobermory and Brockville to see all the amazing wrecks hidden in the deep. But if wrecks aren’t your thing, we also offer trips down south to places such as Bonaire, Curaçao and Wakatobi. Each trip is an opportunity to see incredible wildlife and landscapes and to connect with your fellow divers.

Now this group looks ready to dive! We’re out this morning for our first 2 dives, and a bunch of us are doing a 3rd afternoon dive with a sponge expert! Sea&Learn, founded by our good friend Lynn, is an amazing program. It includes talks at local restaurants in the evenings, and afternoon field trips to do citizen science type activities. Sometimes it’ll be counting sharks, looking for different rays, or just focussing on plankton. Whatever it is, it’s always fascinating to see and hear from the experts. My fish ID course is filled with insights I’ve learned from experts here on island. Did you know that Hamlets are simultaneous hermaphrodites? That’s a very unique and cool thing, and I learned a lot more about that here on Saba from a Hamlet expert years ago!

Welcome home! It is great to be back on Saba, this trip with a group of first time visitors. For Tammy and I, it is one of our favourite spots, and it’s our 10th time on the island. It was a long travel day yesterday, with a brief stop in St Martin to grab the ferry, and by the time we got here it was dark. But making up to this view today made it all worth while.

Saba is a small, 5 miles square, Dutch island close to St Martin. Its population is 2000, and the max tourist capacity is about 200. No fast food restaurants. No beach, so no beach vendors. Incredibly safe, and incredible views. A spectacular place.

🍂🦃 Happy Thanksgiving to our wonderful Float N’ Flag Community! 🧡🤿
This Thanksgiving weekend, Tammy and I are reflecting on what we’re most grateful for, and at the top of our list — aside from personal health — is the incredible community we’ve built together at Float N’ Flag.
It is truly one of a kind: friendly, caring, and one of the most active communities in diving today. It takes a special group of people to create something like that, and that group is you. 🙌
We hope the impact we have on each other continues for years to come, and we look forward to all that this new year will bring.
With all the warmth that comes with this message of gratitude, we hope you enjoy the crisp fall air and have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with friends and family. 🍁🍂
With gratitude,
Brad & Tammy 🤿

Great day of diving some fun, easy wrecks here in Brockville. Helen was our incredible captain (yes, by choice). Oren, Paul, Chris, Tammy and I had lots of space on the boat, each with our own bench. Now we’re just chilling before a lovely dinner. Helen’s good friend owns The Mill, so we’re off to try that for dinner tonight with Helen and Jenn.

Congratulations!! What an incredible learning experience for everyone. Maaran, Byran and Nila successfully completed their Rescue Diver certification this past weekend. They were like sponges, incorporating all our feedback into the next part of the course. A huge thanks also to Christen, my professional victim, and to Stephanie, Courtney and Pat who all came out on Sunday for the required scenario day. Their enthusiasm, humour and excellent acting abilities made for and entertaining and educational day.

Often called one of divers favourite and most fun, the Rescue Diver course develops skills and critical thinking that help any diver deal with the inevitable situations that come up as a diver. It could be something small, like cramp removal, or something more serious that involves saving a life, Emergency Oxygen provision or in-water resuscitation. Regardless, the rescue diver course gives you the tools and practical experience through the simulation scenarios, to deal with these safely and effectively. FNF recommends all divers work towards their Rescue Diver certification. Checkout one of our 2027 courses.

It’s a rescue!! The FNF gang had fun on our first in-water day with rescue students. The day was spent practicing previously done skills, learning new ones and fine tuning critical thinking about rescue techniques, both self and other diver focussed. As usual, we had a lot of fun with all these exercises and scenarios. Byran and Maaran really enjoyed the fireman’s carry as an exit technique, and Nila excelled at the circle search with the reel. Sunday we bring on the theatre as these 3 students navigate the scenarios to complete their res UW diver certification.

Well - with Chris loving ice diving, and Christen loving Sidemount, we’ve done the impossible. We got Chris in a set of Sidemount gear! He made a deal with Christen (one of our most excellent DM’s) that he’d do Sidemount if she did Ice Diving. So now we have photo evidence of Chris in Sidemount gear, complete with the TUTU, and our first ice diving registrant. It was a really Wonderful Wednesday! Make sure you congratulate Chris when you’re in the store next. He can’t wait to hear from you!

A crew of awesome divers headed to Gilboa this past weekend for a gorgeous and really fun weekend of diving. Crisp mornings, warm afternoons and bright sunshine all day. Couldn’t have been a better weekend for diving. Some great items are underwater in Gilboa Quarry, and we got to visit pretty much everything on the 5 dives we put in. Hope more of you will join us next year when we go. Thanks to Chris and Matt for the UW photos.

Great morning in Hong Kong before we hop on the 16 hour flight back to Toronto. The Big Buddha and monetary was awesome, and the Ngong Ping 360 cable car was awesome. Stunning views. Canada, we’ll be back soon!!
