⭐️ NPHL 1ST STAR OF THE WEEK — GUS FORD ⭐️

The Brant County Riverhawks are proud to congratulate Gus Ford, who has been named the NPHL’s 1st Star of the Week following an outstanding performance in our franchise’s first-ever regular season game.

Ford made an immediate impact Friday night against the Strathroy Jets, recording 2 goals and 1 assist — with all three points coming on the power play — in the Riverhawks’ 6–3 loss.

For anyone familiar with Gus’ career, seeing him produce offensively comes as no surprise.

The Tillsonburg, Ontario native has put together an incredible hockey résumé that includes junior hockey with the Brantford 99ers and Chatham Maroons, four seasons of NCAA hockey at Northland College, and an outstanding professional career in the Federal Prospects Hockey League.

Ford established himself as one of the FPHL’s premier offensive players, capturing the 2022–23 FPHL Most Valuable Player Award and league scoring title after an incredible 114-point season — 46 goals and 68 assists in just 54 games.

He followed that up by being named the 2023–24 FPHL Forward of the Year, producing another 88 points in 43 games.

Over his FPHL career, Gus accumulated an incredible 203 goals, 261 assists and 464 points in 255 regular-season games, while becoming the Thunderbirds franchise’s all-time leader in goals, assists and points.

Now he’s brought that scoring touch home.

In the first game in Brant County Riverhawks history, Gus wasted absolutely no time showing Riverhawks fans exactly what kind of player they have wearing the Wings.

3 POINTS.
🚨 2 Goals
🍎 1 Assist
⚡️ 3 Power-Play Points
⭐️ NPHL 1st Star of the Week

And we’re only one game in.

Congratulations, Gus!

🦅 MAJOR PLAYER SIGNING — TREVOR LORD 🦅
PROVEN PROFESSIONAL. ELITE SCORER. INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE.
Riverhawks fans, get ready for this one!
The Brant County Riverhawks are thrilled to announce the signing of Hamilton, Ontario native Trevor Lord for our inaugural 2026–27 NPHL season!
Lord brings a professional scoring résumé that speaks for itself. The 6’2” forward has recorded 101 goals and 236 points in 216 FPHL regular-season games, averaging more than a point per game throughout his professional career in the league.
His 2024–25 season with the Watertown Wolves was outstanding: 38 GOALS and 85 POINTS in 52 games! Lord followed that with 20 goals and 35 points in 37 games with the P*e Dee IceCats in 2025–26, while also suiting up for the Topeka Scarecrows.
And his professional experience extends beyond North America! Lord also took his talents to Australia’s Melbourne Mustangs, putting up six goals and seven points in just three games in the Australian Ice Hockey League.
Now, the Riverhawks are adding that proven offensive firepower to our inaugural roster.
Lord brings the ability to finish, create offence and compete with a physical edge. He’s spent years producing against professional competition, and we cannot wait for Riverhawks fans to see what he brings to the Hawks Nest.
This is the calibre of hockey we’re bringing to Brant County. A professional goal scorer with international experience is coming to Burford, and we’re building this team to compete from DAY ONE.
To our fans and sponsors: thank you for helping us build something special. Get your season tickets, bring your friends and family, and get ready to PACK THE NEST!

🦅 GAME RECAP — THE FIRST ONE IS IN THE BOOKS

The final score says 6-3 Strathroy.

But anyone who watched the Brant County Riverhawks take the ice for the first time saw something much bigger beginning.

Against one of the NPHL’s top teams, the boys battled all night. They played fast, physical hockey, competed for every inch of ice and refused to go away.

After a scoreless first period, Trevor Lord made history, scoring the first goal in Riverhawks regular-season history on the power play.

Strathroy answered, but the Hawks kept coming.

Kalib “Gus” Ford struck on the power play in the third, followed by another power-play goal from Anthony Pullicino as Brant County continued to fight its way back into the game.

Between the pipes, Ben Edwards was outstanding, turning aside 47 shots and battling all night. Ford’s performance also earned him First Star of the Game.

The Jets eventually put it away with an empty-net goal, but there was absolutely no quit from this group.

And remember — this was Game ONE.

For many of these guys, it was the first meaningful game they had ever played together. Chemistry takes time. Systems take time. Learning your teammates takes time.

But the compete level?

That was already there.

GM Mike Rita-Procter:

“I was very proud of the guys’ effort and how they never gave up on the game. For our first game, and the first game most of these guys have ever played with each other, we can’t wait to keep rolling, developing that chemistry and getting our first win.”

The staff and ownership group couldn’t be prouder of the way these boys represented the Riverhawks in Game 1.

0-1 doesn’t define where we’re going. It simply marks where we started.

Brant County — if last night was your first glimpse of Riverhawks hockey, get ready.

VOLUNTEERS WANTED — JOIN THE RIVERHAWKS GAME DAY CREW!

The Brant County Riverhawks are getting ready for our inaugural season, and we’re looking for great people from our community to help bring Saturday nights at the Hawks Nest to life!

It takes more than the players on the ice to create an incredible game night. Behind every game is a crew welcoming fans, selling 50/50 tickets, helping families, keeping concessions moving and creating the atmosphere that makes people want to come back.

Now we’re building that crew — and we want YOU to be part of it.

We’re looking for volunteers to help with:

• Ticket scanning & entrances
• Arena ushers & fan assistance
• 50/50 sales
• Merchandise & program sales
• Concessions & Blue Line Club
• Sponsor/VIP hospitality
• Game-day promotions & fan engagement
• Set-up/tear-down
• General game-day support

Whether you’re a hockey fan, student looking for volunteer hours, parent, retiree or simply someone who loves being involved in the community, we’d love to hear from you.

No hockey experience is necessary. We’ll show you what you need to know. We’re simply looking for friendly, reliable people who want to help create something special.

And this isn’t just another season.

This is Year One.

The people who join us now will be the original crew that helped establish what Riverhawks game nights and the Hawks Nest become.

We are incredibly grateful to anyone willing to give their time. A community hockey club doesn’t happen without people stepping forward to support it, and we will never take that support for granted.

Want to join the crew?

Send us a DM or email [email protected] with your name, contact information and any area you’d especially like to help with.

Come spend your Saturday nights at the rink and help us build something Brant County can be proud of.

BE PART OF YEAR ONE.

🚨 THE FIRST PUCK DROP IN RIVERHAWKS HISTORY. 🚨

This is where it begins.

For the FIRST TIME EVER, the Brant County Riverhawks take the ice for a regular-season game, officially beginning our inaugural NPHL season.

And our first test is LOADED with star power.

🦅 RIVERHAWKS vs. STRATHROY JETS ✈️
📅 Friday, October 2 | ⏰ 7:30 PM
📍 Gemini Sportsplex — Strathroy

This isn’t just Game 1.

It’s a matchup packed with size, skill, toughness and serious hockey pedigree.

Brant County features Taylor Doherty and Freddy Teeple.

At 6’8”, Doherty is a former 2nd-round NHL Draft pick of the San Jose Sharks, bringing years of professional experience and an imposing presence to the Riverhawks blue line.

Teeple brings the hard-nosed compete, energy and edge that represents exactly what we’re building in Brant County.

Waiting on the other side?

ROB SCHREMP. BRANDON PRUST.

Schremp was a 1st-round NHL Draft pick, played 114 NHL games and was one of the OHL’s most electrifying stars, including an incredible 145-point season with the London Knights.

Prust played 486 NHL games, suiting up for Calgary, Phoenix, the NY Rangers, Montreal and Vancouver, earning a reputation as one of hockey’s fiercest competitors.

And here’s the connection…

Schremp and Prust were teammates on the legendary 2005 Memorial Cup Champion London Knights.

Now they’re together again in Strathroy.

Doherty. Teeple. Schremp. Prust.

Two teams.
Four marquee names.
One historic night.

For Strathroy, it’s another season opener.

For Brant County, it’s the beginning of something entirely new.

The first roster.
The first road trip.
The first opening faceoff.
The first game that counts.

Years from now, there will only ever be ONE first game in Brant County Riverhawks history.

🔥 RIVERHAWKS. JETS. FRIDAY NIGHT. 🔥

The wait is over.

🦅 PLAYER SIGNING — TEEPS IS READY TO BRING THE BOOM TO BRANT COUNTY! 💥

BIG. PHYSICAL. EXPERIENCED. AND WILLING TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO WIN.

The Brant County Riverhawks are FIRED UP to announce the signing of Frederick “Teeps” Teeple for our inaugural 2026–27 NPHL season!

At 6’3”, 225 lbs, the Hamilton native gives the Riverhawks another big, powerful presence up front — and when Teeps is on the ice, opponents are going to know it.

Freddy describes his game simply:

“Hard hitting two-way forward.”

And the résumé backs it up.

Before moving into Senior AAA hockey with the Stoney Creek Tigers, Teeple played 57 GOJHL games with the Hamilton Kilty B’s, producing 21 points while piling up 265 penalty minutes — including 184 PIM in 2018–19.

Translation?

TEEPS DOESN’T COME TO THE RINK LOOKING FOR AN EASY NIGHT. 💥

He brings size, edge and physicality, but there’s more to his game than throwing the body. He can create offence, make plays, compete at both ends of the rink and make opponents pay when it’s time to finish a check.

When we asked what Riverhawks fans should expect from him, Freddy didn’t talk about goals, points or individual accomplishments.

His answer:

“Doing what it takes to win.”

THAT is the mentality we want wearing the wings. 🦅

And what are fans going to love about his game?

“Creating plays and finishing checks.”

When asked why he wanted to become a Riverhawk, Teeps pointed to the “good coaching, management, and players” being assembled in Brant County.

Now he becomes another big piece of it.

A hard-hitting, two-way power forward with Senior AAA experience, an edge to his game and one objective:

DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO WIN.

WELCOME TO THE RIVERHAWKS, TEEPS! 🦅🔥

Brant County, get ready — because when Teeps starts finishing checks at the Hawks Nest, YOU’RE GOING TO HEAR IT! 💥

🦅 PLAYER SIGNING — MITCH BRITTON! 🦅
POWER. SKILL. PHYSICALITY. ANOTHER BIG-TIME ADDITION TO THE RIVERHAWKS! 🔥
The Brant County Riverhawks are fired up to announce the signing of Brantford native Mitch Britton for our inaugural 2026–27 NPHL season!
Riverhawks fans, get ready for a skilled power forward who brings size, offensive ability and a physical presence to our lineup!
Standing 6’1” and 215 lbs, Britton combines the strength to battle in the hard areas with the skill to make things happen offensively.
Britts brings an impressive hockey résumé to Brant County, having competed at the Junior A level in the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL), along with extensive Junior B experience in the GOJHL.
More recently, Britton has continued making an impact at the senior level, including a strong 2023–24 campaign in which he registered 9 goals and 22 points in 21 games.
He followed that up with 5 goals and 14 points in 18 games for the Delhi Flames in 2024–25.
Now, he’s bringing that experience, physicality and offensive touch to the Riverhawks!
Britts describes himself as a “skilled power forward,” and that’s exactly the kind of player we’re excited to add to our forward group.
A player who can battle for space, compete in the tough areas and contribute offensively gives our coaching staff another weapon as we prepare for our inaugural season.
WE’RE BUILDING A TEAM THAT CAN SCORE — AND A TEAM THAT’S GOING TO BE HARD TO PLAY AGAINST!
For our fans and sponsors, this is another exciting addition to a Riverhawks roster being built to compete from DAY ONE.
Get ready to see Britts bring his power-forward game to the Hawks Nest this season!
WELCOME TO THE RIVERHAWKS, MITCHELL! 🦅🔥
