Beach Paradise is very sad to announce it’s shutting its doors for good.😔 *effective sept1*
It’s absolutely shameful the way that Brant Sports Counsel treated the tenants in the building. They came in acting as though they were the new management aiming to make the space better for us and bring the community together. So we trusted them and gave them all our ideas and information. In turn, our rent was raised 3x our normal amount (as well as multiple other tenants trying to better the community) leaving us with no choice but to shut down. They didn’t give us a warning that they would be taking over which would have enabled us to find a new location. They came in acting like they wanted to help us help the community and we trusted them.
Our indoor beach was the only indoor sand in, or close to, Brantford. Here we were able to offer the cheapest and highest rated birthday parties in town, year-round beach volleyball leagues, skills clinics, home to Legacy which trained young athletes and allowed them chances at scholarships and a bright future in volleyball, kids drop ins, adult drop ins, dodgeball, work parties, kids camps, etc.. we are so sad to see it go. All of our hard work gone.
Brantford Cheer Club run by Abby has a large community backing her as well. Young ladies have the chance to build their skills and self esteem through her programs and they raised her rent to an unplayable amount as well in order to kick her out.
Role Basketball offers skills clinics and personal training to young athletes, often in lower class families and gives them the chance at scholarships. JR has been a great part of the community and he has a huge clientele to back him on that. He will also no longer be able to afford the raised rent at the facility.
Despite the multiple hurdles we have faced with this building- from terrible plumbing to leaky roofs and more, we’re very sad to be saying goodbye to the business and volleyball community we’ve created.
This being said, if anyone has any offers of new spaces or is interested in collaborating, we’re all ears.
