At 42 years old, I've owned CrossFit Durst for nearly 12 years, but my first CrossFit experience? It was terrible.
I felt intimidated.
Out of place.
Like everyone belonged there except me.
I walked away convinced CrossFit wasn't for people like me.
A few years later, I gave it one more chance at a different gym and everything changed.
The coaches remembered my name.
They taught me how to lift.
They made me feel like I belonged.
That experience shaped the entire vision for CrossFit Durst.
For the last 12 years, we've worked to build a gym where beginners feel welcome, women feel supported, modifications are respected, and nobody feels like they need to "get fit first."
I recently sat down and shared the full story—from marathon runner, to burnt-out endurance athlete, to CrossFit coach and gym owner.
If you've ever wondered who I am, why I opened Durst, or why I'm so passionate about helping women build strength and confidence, I'd love for you to read it.
