The City of Brandon is proud to present Matt Cory at this year's Canada Day Celebration at the Riverbank Discovery Centre on July 1 at 08:00PM. Matt Cory is a Canadian rock artist based in Brandon, Manitoba, crafting guitar-driven alternative rock that blends grit reminiscent of classic hard rock with a modern edge. Known for his raw energy, melodic instincts and honest songwriting, Cory’s sound bridges heavy riffs and atmospheric depth—balancing intensity with reflection.

A seasoned live performer, Cory has built a growing presence across Western Canada with standout appearances at festivals including Dauphin’s Countryfest, Brandon Salamander Summer Festival and Ribfest. In the summer of 2026, he is set to perform at Rockin’ the Fields of Minnedosa and the Living Skies Festival in Yorkton—sharing the stage with established acts such as Helix, Quiet Riot, Big Sugar and Crash Test Dummies. Whether fronting a full electric lineup or delivering an intimate acoustic set, Cory brings a grounded, no-frills authenticity to every performance.

His upcoming full-length album, Hollow Sun (2026), marks his most ambitious work to date. Released through a series of singles, the project explores identity, pressure and transformation—pairing cinematic themes with hook-driven songwriting. Tracks like “Spark in the Sky” highlight a more expansive, atmospheric side, while heavier releases like “Die On This Hill” and “Last Dance” continue to lean into his hard rock roots. Backed by a standout band featuring Craig Metruk (drums), Wes Lipischak (keys/guitar/vocals) and Kevin Blair (bass), Cory continues to evolve his sound while staying grounded in what drives it: strong songs, real emotion and a deep connection to the music that shaped him.

Offstage, Cory is a dedicated guitar instructor, mentoring the next generation of players and helping foster a growing local music community. With new music rolling out and a busy slate of live shows across Manitoba and beyond, Matt Cory is entering a defining chapter—focused, energized and fully in his element.
