We are pleased to share the recipient of our 2026 SCBC Star 3 - 4 Session Athlete of the Year Award. 🏆

⭐️ELLIE KNIGHT⭐️
Ellie incredibly committed to her training and is always looking for ways to improve. This season, she has worked hard to develop her flexibility and movement while continuing to pursue ambitious goals on the ice. Ellie’s dedication has paid off with the successful achievement of both her Axel and Double Salchow, and she is excited to take the next step competing at the Star 5 level next season.
 
Beyond her accomplishments, Ellie is a kind and thoughtful leader who is always quick to thank her coaches and support her teammates. As a member of Gold Ice, she contributed to a Provincial Championship season while continuing to pursue her dream of one day skating on a Junior synchronized skating team.
 
Off the ice, Ellie is equally dedicated to making a positive impact. She enjoys swimming, cross-country running, writing, and drawing, and is an active volunteer at her school. From serving as a bus patroller and Mental Health Ambassador to leading younger students and founding a Random Acts of Kindness Club, Ellie consistently demonstrates leadership and compassion in everything she does.

⭐️AARYA SHARMA⭐️
Aarya is incredibly self-motivated and always looking for ways to improve. Whether working on jumps, spins, or learning new skills, she approaches every session with focus and determination. She never wastes a moment of ice time and can always be found working hard toward her goals. In addition to her individual skating, she is a proud member of the Gold Ice synchronized skating program and loves taking part in Coach Maysie’s jump and fitness classes.

⭐️HANA YEE⭐️
Hana has shown tremendous growth throughout the season, approaching every challenge with confidence and determination. Her hard work is evident each time she steps on the ice, and she consistently strives to improve her skills and performance. Hana is a pleasure to coach, always eager to learn, try new things, and embrace opportunities to grow.

⭐️CANSKATE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR: LILLY CENTENO⭐️
Lilly arrives at the rink each week with a positive attitude and a smile, always ready to take on new challenges. She is eager to learn, willing to step outside of her comfort zone, and has shown tremendous growth in both her skills and confidence this year.

Her passion for skating and commitment to improvement have made her progress a joy to watch, and we are excited to see what she accomplishes next. (Lilly was absent from our awards ceremony but we look forward to presenting her award at a later date!)

⭐️2026 SCBC CANSKATE SPIRIT AWARDS: RILEY JUSI & VINISHA AGRAWAL⭐️
Riley comes to the rink each week with a great attitude and a willingness to learn. She is supportive of her fellow skaters and helps create a fun, welcoming environment for everyone. Her enthusiasm, kindness, and sportsmanship make her a valued member of our CanSkate community.

Vinisha’s cheerful attitude and excitement for skating brighten every session. She shows up in her pink tutu ready to embrace new challenges with a smile, bringing positive energy to those around her, and helping make the rink a welcoming place for everyone. We are excited to continue to watch her journey in our StarSkate program!

It takes a village to make our club thrive, and we are so fortunate to have some of the very best.

A huge thank you to our incredible volunteers who go above and beyond to support SCBC in countless ways. From behind-the-scenes planning to event days and everything in between, your dedication helps create an amazing experience for our skaters and families.

We also want to recognize our outstanding CanSkate Program Assistants, who bring energy, enthusiasm, and leadership to the ice each week. Your positive impact on our youngest skaters does not go unnoticed, and you play an important role in fostering a love of skating.

SCBC would not be the same without each and every one of you. ⛸️

This group has shown incredible consistency and determination all season long, building momentum with every competition. Their hard work, resilience, and commitment to one another have truly paid off with a well-earned result on the provincial stage.
