Introduced Makayla Terrelonge] to the Starbucks protein coffee after our workout today. Needless to say my sister was at this evening buying her some of her own 🥰

She survived the week of our workouts. Yes she is sore, but yes she still loves me. I couldn’t be more proud Makayla Terrelonge].

Today was another 6:30am gym session, and it was leg day!!

By the end was still talking to me, but barely lol.

Followed up my workout with walking the dog to grab my tea before my workday started.

What movement have you gotten in today???

Started with a 2km jog on the treadmill

Legs
sumo squats
Raised leg split lunges
Closed leg inclined full squat
Stiff leg dead lifts
Hip thrusts from bench

A bit about today 😉 along with a quick home workout video.

Today is my three year surgery anniversary!! It marks three years since the first day of the rest of my life. The day I made a life change that I have sustained and couldn’t imagine going back.

I lost over 100lbs in a year and have kept it off. I exercise now rather than stress eat. I understand I will have bad days, but they don’t define me or make me weak. They show I am human and am now able to cope rather than spiral.

My are photos from the day before my surgery compared to now. I’m proud of all I have accomplished in my mind, body and soul. I’m still a work in progress, but I’m worth the commitment of continuous growth 🥰❤️

is a part of my body I never thought I would be ok showing.

The top left is day 10 on optifast. I had my Feb 2, 2018. I lost 100 lbs in less than a year. That year was a time of great transformation for me.

The other two photos were moments I looked in the mirror and was proud. Proud of the fact that I lost and kept the weight off. Proud of the exercise I had been putting in to maintain my new healthy lifestyle. Just proud and feeling myself. But still not 100% happy. I carried loose skin on my stomach which was a constant reminder of what I had done to my body.

The last photo was this week. I had my first July 2020. It was painful, it was hard, but it was worth it.

But this is my journey. Not everyone travels the journey the same way. Not everyone has the same goals for their finish line. And no one persons goals are ‘better’ than the other. We all choose the path that will make us happy. I used to choose the path of least resistance, now I choose the path with challenge.

What path are you choosing?

My pic is another trio. The far left is Aug 2014, middle is May 2016 and the far right is last week.
Far left was 9 months after having my last baby. I had lost the pregnancy weight (was about 194lbs) and was happy to be in a size 16 jeans. I felt good that night.
Middle I was about 230lbs. I was miserable. This evening was my husband’s graduation. I went shopping to try and find an outfit to wear and left the mall depressed and almost in tears. Not a great time in my life.
Far right I go from 128-132 depending on water retention, food choices for the week and exercise. I feel fantastic both physically, but also from a MH side. I still have my bad days, but who doesn’t?
The first two photos my body was sore, but from carrying the weight, not from lifting weights. The first two photos I couldn’t keep up with my kids, now they can’t keep up with me, and I love it!!

The photo on the left was this morning after my 5km run at the gym. The photo on the right is March 2014.
The person on the left is happy, healthy and active. The person on the right is also happy, but is unhealthy and not active.
I will never say that I was unhappy while I was over weight, I simply have different things in my life now that make me happy. Previously food made me happy, now activity does. I’m not saying I don’t still love food, mastering a new recipe brings me great joy!! I just love a different kind of food, and a lot less of it.
Happy Tuesday everyone!!

Photo 1 Summer 2012 - almost one year after having my son. Weight was approximately 200lbs. Was in yo-yo diets, trying to workout, but not sticking to it.

Photo 2 summer 2015 - right in the midst of a downward spiral (see last post) suffering from major emotional eating. Weight approximately 235. Completely unhealthy eating with no exercise. This wasn’t even my highest weight 😢

Photo 3 October 2020 - healthy mind, body and soul. Happiest with myself I have been in about 16 years. Proud of all I have accomplished and have the drive to keep going. Current weight 128

No matter which path you take, as long as you start, as long as you put one foot in front of the other, that’s what matters. And EVEN if at times you take one step back, that is ok, just make sure the next day you go hard enough and eat smart@enough to take an extra step forward.

This is a journal entry from February 5, 2015. This post brings up all kinds of emotions. Fear, sadness, anxiety and shame. Wait, did I just say shame? Yup I did. Let’s break down each of these emotions....

1. Fear. There was just so much fear. My job had announced that changes were happening and I would live the next 4 months not knowing if I would have a job in the end. I was the sole provider for my family as my husband had just lost his job and we decided it was the best time for him to go back to school.
There was also fear that my marriage was entering a change cycle and I was blaming myself, my weight and how little I felt of myself.

2. Sadness. I was sad of the changes at work. My safe little bubble was changing and I was sad. I was sad that I felt so little of myself. I was sad my marriage might be failing.

3. Anxiety. Well duh. I dint know many people who wouldn’t am anxious in the above situations.

4. Shame. Yes shame. Shame in myself and how far I had let myself go. Shame in the fact that my marriage might be failing. Just shame.

Fast forward over the next 5 years.

June 2015 received a promotion. I have been in my current role since and live it. Love my team and the challenges we face which keeps me busy.

Oct 2016 my husband broke the news he wanted to separate. He eventually moved out Aug 2017.

June 21, 2017 had my consult for gastric bypass.

Feb 2, 2018 had my gastric bypass surgery

November 2018 down 100lbs!!!

July 29, 2020 had my 1st skin surgery

Over these past 5 years I have gone through even more than is shown here. But you know what, I no longer feel that shame. I no longer suffer from what I know now was depression and anxiety. I am@able to cope with stress in a healthy way rather than binge eating. I am in a place mentally and physically I never thought I would be in.

I am the Phoenix, and I have risen!!!!

Look what I bought for $5 in my apple book app!! For anyone who is bored of the same old, and tired of sifting through Pinterest I would recommend this book! It comes in paperback on amazon too, but I prefer it on my phone.

I absolutely love my pressure cooker and can’t wait to try out some recipes. I’m even getting the kids involved and showing them how easy it can be for them to whip up a great meal for us all without a ton of time and effort.

Apple bookstore/kindle for the win!!!
