Camp Bil-O-Wood

Camp Bil-O-Wood A traditional children's outdoor summer camp. Camp Bil-O-Wood was established in 1946 and is located in Blind River, Ontario Canada.

The mission of Camp Bil-O-Wood is simple. Our primary focus is to provide experiences, through which children develop new skills, build friendships and create lasting memories. As campers learn and grow they gain self-confidence, self-awareness and self-determination. We believe in the importance of sharpening each camper's physical and mental capacity for successfully embracing life’s challenges and adventures. While the world around us becomes more and more complex, Camp Bil-O-Wood emphasizes the importance of getting to know oneself and learning to understand and accept the differences between ourselves and others. We believe that eating, sleeping and playing in the outdoors foster such awareness.

The last week of camp is extra special with unique events every day of the week. One of the camper’s favorite nights is roast night, singing songs, watch shooting starts and roasting traditional bannock bread over the open fire 🇨🇦🏕️🪵

The Wenebagon: this trip starts with a grueling first day of dragging, lifting, carrying and portaging canoes over a series over over 50 log jams before accessing Wenebagon Lake.

The creek is the only way in.

Some groups make it to the lake in one day and some don’t and find themselves pitching a tent at dark on the side of the mucky creek.

Once on the lake the walleye fishing is world class! The campsites are stunning and the river is fast and fun, making the brutal first day well worth the effort.

This group made leaps and bounds of progress as efficient and strong canoe trippers while making memories that will stick with them all of their lives!
