The Wilderness Park

The Grimshaw and District Agricultural Society (maintainers of the Wilderness Park) are having a September meeting Wednesday September 2nd , 2026, at the New Horizon Drop In Centre located at 5005 - 50th Avenue in Grimshaw at 7:00 PM. This meeting will discuss year end business regarding the Park as well as ongoing maintenance of the Park with our present resident caretakers now leaving. If you are interested in joining the Society and assisting us with Park maintenance, you are more than welcome to come to this meeting. We need some new young people to become Park staff to keep this Jewel of the Community running.

There will be a September Meeting of the Grimshaw and District Agrricultural Society. This meeting will be held on September 2nd, 2026, at 7 pm at the New Horizon Drop In Centre in Grimshaw Alberta. It’s located at 5006 - 50th Avenue next to the old Grimshaw town Hall. This meeting is being held to deal with year end business as well as looking at the Future of the Wilderness Park and winter readiness. Please tend if you are at all able, we need your representation and support.

We did the normal Friday maintenance walk around and we are still finding too much garbage left in firepits. These are not garbage cans and would really appreciate it if people would come prepared with a gabrbage bag when they picnic or just take the garbage to the can provided next to the North park map and sign-in area. Thank You for your consideration with this matter.

A huge thank you to Kelly Pippin from Grow with Gratitude 💚 for volunteering her time to teach us about the plants growing right here in Wilderness Park and their many traditional uses! Kelly also emphasized the importance of foraging responsibly. Always respecting the plants and the spaces they grow in.

We hope everyone left feeling inspired and with a greater appreciation for the many ways plants can benefit us.

Please note this was an educational walk, and we ask that visitors please leave the plants for everyone to enjoy and help us preserve the park's natural beauty. 🌿

Wilderness Park is run entirely by volunteers, and we are so grateful for everyone who donates their time to help care for this beautiful place.

Park Appreciation Day was only made possible due to the support of our community members, who worked together to make it happen.

When I asked Wayne why he volunteers, he simply said: "To give back to the community that gave so much to us."

If you are interested in joining our team, please do not hesitate to reach out!

What a turnout! Thank you to everyone who came out on Saturday, it was amazing to see! Park Appreciation Day 2026 was definitely one to remember. We could not have asked for a better day.
