Safety Training Requirements
To legally operate an OHV in Nova Scotia many operators must obtain a safety training certificate. You are exempt from the requirement to take safety training if

you: meet all 5 excemptions
1-Were 19 years or older before April 1, 2006 (born before April 1, 1987); and,
2-Purchased an OHV before April 1, 2006; and,
3-Registered an OHV on or before September 30, 2007; and,
4-Have a valid driver’s license; and,
5-'Are not a parent/guardian of an operator under the age of 16

Trail Etiquette 101
Stop, turn off engine, if you have a full face helmet you should remove it, stay quiet until the rider speaks.
The horse will be expecting a response rather than being startled by an unfamiliar voice if you speak first.
Wait a minute for the rider to get some distance, start and proceed with a gentle acceleration, gradually increasing speed in a manner that shows respect to the horse and rider.
