You head down to your workout space or make your way to the gym. You get there and you donโ€™t have a clue what you want to work on, what machines or equipment to use or how many reps to do and how much weight to use.

Your brain is whirling and all you want to do is try to nail down what your workout is going to look like. At this point you feel like you've made a million + one decisions already and one more might bring you to your breaking point.

Itโ€™s been 15 minutes of โ€œwarming upโ€ aka, scrolling the latest workout fads on insta.

Screw it.
Brain feels frazzled and fried - you've got to get back to work and nothing is coming to you.

You decide to hit the treadmill for 30 minutes and call it done.

In fact, I remember walking blindly into my workout space, winging it and then getting frustrated because I felt like I spent way too much time doing nothing. Or would just wander, scroll social, do anything but the workout and then surrender myself to the treadmill because it felt familiar and less complicated.
Iโ€™ve helped many women overcome this and create more efficiency in their workouts, take the guess work out, minimizing the decision fatigue and helped them stop throwing away their precious time.

When I hit my late 30s, I had no idea my workouts should pivot with me as my hormones were shifting ๐Ÿคฏ
WHERE DO YOU EVEN START?
I traded in my running for walking - my body thanked me.
I started lifting heavy weights in a way that didn't empty my tank.
I swapped out my mindset that I needed HIIT in my life - my adrenals applauded the shift.
I created more space for rest and recovery.

Fast forward today, in my 43 year old body and now making choices that serve me, support me AND strengthen me.

This is not the phase of life where we start comparing our workout programs to our daughters, our partners or our sons. ...

I thought I was on board with the โ€œtake care of yourself, so you can take care of othersโ€ mantra.

But then I heard it shared a bit differently on a podcast recently โ€“ if my peri-menopausal brain wasnโ€™t revved into full gear, Iโ€™d gladly recall which podcast that was but sheโ€™s foggy guys. The fog is thick.

Anyway. It was shared that doing the work (whatever kind of work you are doing) is to be done for yourself {PERIOD}. It doesnโ€™t have to be so you can care for others. It should just be for the sake of caring for yourself.

And I resonated with that. To my core.

Caring for others is part of being a good human, yes. I do not disagree.
But caring for ourselves - just because โ€“ well, thatโ€™s next level.

Here's a weight hack for you.
Is it perfect - no.
But it's an option. It's the "something".
So you've been lifting one particular weight for a while, let's say you've been holding a 10lb dumbbell for your bent over one arm row. But you feel like you are breezing through the reps and no longer feeling challenged.
But, you've only got one set of 10lb dumbbells.
Weight hack!!!!

Hold the 2 dumbbells together and VOILA, you've got a greater load for the exercise.
