A HUGE THANK YOU to Shawn MacKenzie for everything he’s done for hockey, especially in Bedford!
Best of luck Shawn, and of course we’ll see you around!
*A Note From Shawn MacKenzie*
Now that I am officially retired from my role as HDP, I would like to say thanks to all the great people I have had a chance to work alongside, the families of the hundreds of players that have come under my watch, and, of course, the players themselves.
I have been very fortunate to spend 40-plus years of my life in the game of hockey and the game has given me much and taken me many places. I have been able to experience hockey from the highest-level to the very lowest and much of what lies between and as I reflect back, I find that the most rewarding and cherished part of that journey has been the time spent with BDMHA and the children that play our great game. It has been a true pleasure and I am extremely grateful to all.
Although I am now in a more distant seat, I hope to continue to have involvement in the game and support BDMHA and I intend to keep tabs on the players and come watch them compete whenever I can.
A special thank you for all the kind words I have received since the announcement; this means so very much to me.
To the players current and former:
I want to thank you for all your efforts you have given me and putting up with my crusty "tough love " approach. lol
Always give your best in whatever you do, be a good teammate and friend, respect everyone and have fun enjoying all the good things the game and life brings your way.
Where the game lies within our hearts is a special part of hockey in our Nation. Some of you still play and some of you have moved on, but regardless of where you are in life, I bet the "Hockey Heart" still beats in your chest and that makes mine smile.
If I can help any of you now or in the future just reach out. I retired from a job but not from you guys.
💙🏒🥅
