🚨 WE NEED YOU THIS WEEKEND! 🚨

Tryouts are here, but we can’t get on the ice without your help. 🏒

To keep our players safe and ensure we comply with the mandatory 2-Deep Rule (requiring at least two adults in every dressing room at all times), we need dressing room volunteers for this weekend’s sessions.

⚠️ Simple truth: If we don’t have enough supervision, we can’t run tryouts.

📵 IMPORTANT REMINDER: Please remember that no cell phones are permitted in the dressing rooms at any time to respect the privacy of our players. Thank you for your cooperation in enforcing this policy.

Please consider giving a bit of your time to make sure our players can hit the ice. It takes a community to keep these skates moving!

Building the foundation for 2026–27!

We are excited to announce our new BDMHA Development Team:
✨ Luke Green (Lead Technical Director – Player Development)
✨ Ryan Hillier (Associate Technical Director – Player Development)
✨ Joshua Ward (Technical Director – Goaltender Development)

Bringing elite experience from the NHL, QMJHL, NCAA, and pro European leagues, Luke, Ryan, and Joshua bring a modern, approachable coaching style focused on skill growth, player confidence, and keeping hockey fun.

Our 3 Pillars of Development:
1️⃣ Player Development: Skating, puck skills, and hockey sense across every level.
2️⃣ Goaltender Development: Dedicated goalie coaching integrated into team practices.
3️⃣ Coach Development: Hands-on mentorship and resources for our volunteer coaches.

With city-wide ice constraints in HRM, we’re working hard to maximize every minute on the ice—and we’ve partnered with Citadel Hockey Academy to offer off-ice skill training to support our players all season long.

🏒 U13-AAA Assistant Coaching Staff Announcement!
Following the appointment of Head Coach Dave Byrne, Bedford Minor Hockey Association is thrilled to announce our Assistant Coaches for the upcoming season: Jack Patterson, Evan MacEachern, and Matthew Graham!

This trio brings elite playing and coaching background across the QMJHL, BCHL, NCAA Div I, USports, and international play:

* Jack Patterson – BDMHA alumnus returning for his 2nd season! Former Halifax Titans (U18 Major) and Ontario Tech player, plus a 2019 World University Games Bronze Medalist with Team Canada.

* Evan MacEachern – Former Dartmouth Subways and Trail Smoke Eaters captain, Halifax Mooseheads draft pick, U of T alumnus, and former U15 Major Dartmouth Whalers Assistant Coach.

* Matthew Graham – Former St. Andrew’s College captain, Langley Rivermen assistant captain, NCAA Div I player (Robert Morris), and StFX alumnus with extensive NCAA/USports development coaching experience.

🏒 2026–27 SEASON UPDATE | IMPORTANT REMINDERS

The new hockey season is just around the corner! Here are a few key dates and updates for Bedford Blues families:

📅 REGISTRATION DEADLINE: AUGUST 15 AT 11:59 PM
General registration closes this Saturday. Players not registered by the deadline will be placed on a waitlist, and a spot cannot be guaranteed.

🏒 BENCH STAFF APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN
Interested in coaching or volunteering as a team manager, safety rep, assistant coach or other bench staff role? Applications are now open!

⛸️ CONDITIONING CAMPS BEGIN NEXT WEEK
U13 camps kick off next week, with remaining division schedules and groupings being posted shortly. Please note that camp groups are final and outstanding balances must be paid before your player’s first ice session.

📋 COMPETITIVE TRYOUTS & EVALUATIONS
Schedules and player groups will be finalized after registration closes, with schedules targeted for release by the end of August.

Anticipated start dates:
• U13 – September 12
• U11 – Weekend of September 18
• U15 – September 21
• U9 – September 26
• U18 – Following feeder high school tryouts

We agree!

The users of the Halifax Forum cannot go 3 years without a viable alternative.

HRM should prioritize building a new 4-pad arena to address the city's growing ice shortage before closing the Forum. This approach would preserve access to ice for thousands of athletes and families while creating the additional capacity our community desperately needs.

Build first. Close later.

It's the solution that creates the least disruption for the minor hockey, ringette, figure skating, recreational, and community groups that rely on the Halifax Forum every day.
