As I announced in class last night, on Thursday night (tomorrow) we will hold our classes at the regular times in St. Vincent Park, near the waterfront, at St. Vincent and Blake Streets.

Kids can wear their karate uniforms with running shoes and hats. They should also have sunblock and bug spray just in case. And they should have water bottles so they can stay hydrated.

Adults and teens are free to wear either karate uniforms or track pants and t-shirts. (They should also have water bottles, hats, running shoes, sunscreen and bug spray).

I will bring some popsicles for after class.

See you in the park tomorrow.

In Fukuoka, Nandy, Daniel and I went with my friend Mr. Hatao to eat at one of the city’s famous yatai, or street food vendors, located right by a wide river full of boat traffic.

Before this Mr. Hatao took us to well known local karate gi manufacturer so Nandy and Daniel could fulfill their wish of owning Japanese made uniforms.

We fly to Tokyo today and back to Canada tomorrow

According to the Japan Guide:

“Sofukuji Temple (崇福寺, Sōfukuji) is a temple in Nagasaki belonging to the Obaku school of Zen Buddhism. Originally built in 1629 for Nagasaki's Chinese residents, the temple is constructed in a Chinese architectural style and feels a little different from other temples.

“Sofukuji is built along the slope of a hill. At the bottom stands the temple's two-stories tall entrance gate, Ryugumon (lit. Gate of the Dragon Palace). Like the rest of the temple, it is painted bright red. The gate was originally built in 1673, but was destroyed several times by fire and storms before the most recent reconstruction was completed in 1849.

“Located further up the hillside, the temple's inner grounds contain several halls and a number of impressive artifacts such as statues and a temple bell that dates to 1647. The Buddha Hall was designed and cut in China before the pieces were shipped to Nagasaki and erected here in 1646. It remains one of the oldest buildings in the city.“

It includes a massive cauldron used to feed starving people during a plague in the 17th century.
