For the first time in TuneSquad history, the Top Male Fielder award will not be going to Matthew Bacola, who had claimed the honor three years running. Bacola still earned recognition with 4 first-place votes, but this year the spotlight shifts to assistant captain Will Desroches, who captured 8 of the 14 votes to secure his first fielding crown.

Voting Breakdown:
• Will Desroches – 8 votes
• Matthew Bacola – 4 votes
• Dave Taylor – 2 votes

Defensive Impact:
Patrolling center field, Will’s range and anticipation were on full display all season long. He covered ground on nearly every ball hit his way, shutting down potential extra-base hits and constantly keeping opponents honest. Beyond his individual play, Will played a key role in facilitating defensive shifts, often coordinating with Bacola to put teammates in the best spots.

Stat Line (2025 Season):
• 30 hits in 42 at-bats (.714 AVG)
• 15 Runs scored, 29 RBI
• 8 Doubles, 3 Triples, 8 Home Runs
• 2 Walks, 1 Sac Fly
• Defensive anchor in center field

With this award, Will officially ends Bacola’s streak and steps forward as the TuneSquad’s new Top Male Fielder for 2025.

For the second consecutive season, Alyssa Richardson has been named the Top Female Fielder of the TuneSquad, earning 10 of 14 votes. The only other player to receive recognition was rover outfielder Renee Atkinson, who picked up 4 votes for her own defensive contributions.

Voting Breakdown:
• Alyssa Richardson – 10 votes
• Renee Atkinson – 4 votes

Defensive Impact:
Alyssa was once again the rock of the infield, playing second base with consistency and confidence. Her quick hands and strong field awareness regularly turned double plays and prevented balls from sneaking through the right side of the infield — saving runs and giving pitchers confidence to work inside on hitters.

Stat Line (2025 Season):
• 15 hits in 45 at-bats (.333 AVG)
• 9 Runs scored, 8 RBI
• 3 Walks, 1 Double, 1 Sac Bunt
• Defensive anchor at 2nd base

This marks Alyssa’s second straight Top Female Fielder award, solidifying her reputation as one of the most reliable defenders on the TuneSquad.

We’re excited to kick off TuneSquad Award Season with the first honor of the year: Most Improved Player.

This award was by far the tightest vote of the season, with four players battling until the very end. When the dust settled, it was Estera Bacola who came out on top, collecting 5 first-place votes to become the first back-to-back Most Improved Player winner in team history.

Voting Breakdown:
• Estera Bacola – 5 votes
• Dave Taylor – 4 votes
• Aaron Belasco – 4 votes
• Jackson Groves – 2 votes

Estera shared this award last season with Dave Taylor, but in 2025 she stood out on her own. Her continued growth at the plate and in the field made her one of the TuneSquad’s most reliable contributors, and her improvement was noticed by teammates all season long.

With Dave and Aaron both right on her heels, and former winner Jackson also in the mix, this category showcased just how competitive and talented this squad has become.

Congratulations to Estera on going back-to-back as Most Improved Player — the first award of TuneSquad’s 2025 season!

The TuneSquad’s playoff run came to a heartbreaking end in the semifinals, falling 10–9 in extra innings to the #3 seed Hit Talkers in one of the most thrilling games of the season.

With the score tied after seven, both teams entered the 8th under playoff tiebreaker rules — starting with a runner on second and one out. The TuneSquad scratched but couldn’t cash in their chance, while the Hit Talkers managed to push across the winning run in the bottom half.

Still, this was a battle that showcased everything the Tunes brought to D1 this season — resilience, grit, and contributions up and down the lineup:
• Will Desroches went a perfect 2-for-2 with a sac fly, driving in 2 and scoring once.
• Aarron Belasco continued his hot streak, going 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored.
• Jackson Groves ripped a double and scored twice.
• Dave Taylor (2-for-3) and Alyssa Richardson (sac fly, RBI) kept the pressure on.
• Sam Blackburn added a triple and scored twice, while Serena Smythe chipped in with a 2-for-3 night and an RBI.

On the mound, Jordan Richardson gutted out 8 full innings, keeping the Tunes in it every step of the way.

Although the Hit Talkers advanced to the finals — where they would fall just short 8–7 to reigning champs Scared Hitless — the TuneSquad leave with their heads held high. From reigning undefeated D2 champions a year ago to pushing one of D1’s best to the brink in the semis, this group showed they belong at the top level.

The TuneSquad’s season ends here, but the foundation has been set. The heart, fight, and family this team showed all year proves one thing: they’ll be back, and they’ll be dangerous.

Fresh off their statement win in the quarterfinals, the #7 seed TuneSquad now set their sights on the #3 seed Hit Talkers in the semifinals at 6:15 PM on Diamond 10.

These two teams have history. The Hit Talkers took both regular season matchups—squeaking out a 15–14 win back in Game 3, then taking a 15–6 victory in Game 9. But that was nearly two months ago, and a lot has changed since then. The TuneSquad, the reigning undefeated D2 champions from 2024, have battled through a tough first season in D1 and are now looking to remind everyone what it means to play like champions when it matters most.

One huge factor tonight: the Tunesquad will have every single player available and playing in varied roles. With the full roster on hand, this team brings depth, flexibility, and energy—something the Talkers haven’t seen from them yet.

The winner of this matchup earns a game off while the #1 seed and reigning D1 champions Scared Hitless battle the #4 seed Inventure at 7:30. The finals will follow at 8:45, setting the stage for one wild night of playoff ball.

The TuneSquad know the underdog role well. Tonight, they’ll look to bring the same relentless energy that powered them through round one and keep this playoff run alive.

Quarterfinal Recap: TuneSquad 17 – Stellas & Stouts 6

The TuneSquad came into the playoffs as the underdog #7 seed against the powerhouse #2 seed Stellas & Stouts, but on this night the Tunes flipped the script in a big way with a dominant 17–6 victory to advance to the semifinals.

This was a true team win from top to bottom — for the first time all season, every single batter in the lineup (11 players tonight) recorded either a run scored or an RBI, and 9 of 11 players finished with at least two combined runs + RBIs.
• Aarron Belasco was unstoppable, going 3-for-3 with a walk, 2 RBI, and 4 runs scored.
• Will Desroches launched a homer, added a sac fly, and drove in 3.
• Serena Smythe hammered a monster double to the fence and added 3 RBI on the night.
• Renee Atkinson provided a big triple and 2 RBI.
• Dave Taylor went 3-for-4 and nearly left the yard himself, with a double that was inches from clearing the park, finishing with 2 runs and an RBI.
• Matthew Bacola added 2 hits, an RBI, and 2 runs, while Estera Bacola chipped in with a hit, an RBI, and 2 runs of her own.

On the mound, Jordan Richardson went the distance, locking down the Stellas for 7 innings — his biggest moment coming in the 5th, when he froze a Stella’s batter for a bases-loaded, two-out strikeout looking that ended the inning and sent a massive jolt of energy through the Tunesquad dugout.

After dropping both regular season meetings to the Stellas, the Tunes picked the perfect night to put it all together. The bats were relentless, the defense was sharp, and the team showed exactly what playoff ball is all about.

The TuneSquad are moving on to the semifinals 🔥

The regular season is in the books, and tomorrow the real season begins. The #7 seed TuneSquad will hit the field in a late-night showdown against the #2 seed Stellas & Stouts in the opening round of the playoffs. First pitch is set for 10:00 PM on Diamond 10 at the Barrie Community Sports Complex.

This matchup comes with plenty of history. The Stellas took both regular season meetings between the clubs—winning 17–7 in Game 8 and closing out the schedule with a 15–10 victory. But as everyone knows, the playoffs are a clean slate, and the Tunesquad will look to flip the script when it matters most.

The key for the Tunes will be bringing the balanced attack they showed in the final week of the season, with veterans like Sam Blackburn, Dave Taylor, and Will Desroches leading the charge, and big contributions from the likes of Serena Smythe, Alyssa Richardson, and Aarron Belasco. Defensively, the Tunes will need to tighten up and limit the big innings that have swung the results in the past.

The Stellas enter as one of the league’s most complete teams, but the Tunesquad have proven they can trade blows with anyone when their lineup is firing. Expect energy, grit, and playoff intensity under the lights.

It’s win-or-go-home time. The Tunesquad are ready.
