🔎The Ranch Horse Challenge recognizes the well-rounded ranch horse and the rider who can guide their horse through practical ranch-based tasks with confidence, control and quiet communication. The class honors the traditional roots of bridlehorse horsemanship in British Columbia and the qualities that have long made ranch horses dependable working partners:
willingness, bravery, balance, athletic ability, responsiveness and versatility.

Join us at the Art of the Bridlehorse, September 25–27, 2026, at the North Thompson Fall Fair Grounds in Barriere, BC.

🪡 We are inviting makers of traditional western gear—including leatherwork, rawhide, silver, bits, spurs, reins, bosals, mecates, saddles, knives, western art, clothing and other heritage crafts—to showcase their work and connect with the Bridlehorse community.

🎟️ This year’s event runs alongside the BC Ag Expo, bringing even more visitors, ranchers, horsemen, competitors and western enthusiasts to the grounds.

For all of you who have already registered to ride at BC Bridlehorse Heritage Association's annual event Art of the Bridlehorse this September and have been eagerly awaiting the release of the updated 2026 Rider’s Handbook it’s finally available for review!

📕 The Rider’s Handbook is your guide to event rules, policies, guiding principles, expectations and division/class descriptions. If you haven’t decided if you’d like to ride this September or not, have a browse through the Handbook for a closer look at what you can expect at Art of the Bridlehorse 2026!

💥You can find the most recent version of the Rider's Handbook under the Art of the Bridlehorse heading or on the Art of the Bridlehorse page at www.bcbridlehorse.com

Please note: Appendix A, B and C, the Ranch Horse Pattern, Ranch Horse Pattern Diagram and Score Cards will be available soon. We appreciate your patience as we work to get these documents ready for release and we'll make an announcement as soon as they are available.
