In an action packed two game series the Lions defeated Lights Out to capture their second straight crown. In the first game CCL pulled off an overtime victory on the back of Perron’s hat trick and Mike Adam’s stellar play, while captain Brock Murray led the way with 4g in the second game for the 9-6 series clinching win. Congrats to both teams and to LO captain Dan Ballem on a great season. 🧡💙

Who will win the inaugural CCBHL cup?

The Capital City Lions and Lights Out squads will face off for the first game of a best of three finals on Tuesday night at 8pm.

CCL, led by captain Brock Murray and defensive specialist Faith Murray, sniper Austin Perron and goaltender Mike Adams have been a powerhouse all season long. Perron led the league with 47 goals and 73 points in 11 games, along with the dynamic duo of the league's leading assist-man in Sam Parsonson and sharp shooter Hannah Macdonnell.

LO has been guided by veteran Dan Ballem and his leadership, along with a very solid 24 goals and 36 points, and by Nicky Soucy and BEAST MODE Andrew Stephens who each had 30+ point seasons. Rounded out by the always solid Amanda Stephens, Devin McManus and Zach Thomas. Their goaltending has been solid all season long compliments of James Spottswood.

The series should be a doozy. Best of luck to both teams in their quest for the cup!

CAPITAL CITY LIONS DOMINANT IN 6-1 WIN OVER SAVIORS

Our second game had the heavily favoured Capital City Lions taking on the Saviors who were looking for some Cinderella magic to move onto the finals. Saviors were missing their regular goaltender, Simon Laughlin, and we are sending best wishes and hope he is OK. It only takes a couple minutes to see the first goal of the game as Sam Parsonson digs deep for a loose ball behind the spare goaltender, James Spottswood, to put his team ahead 1-0. Exactly three minutes later sharp shooter Austin Perron would put one home off a feed from CCL captain Brock Murray. The first period showed a lot of back and forth play and SV did a great job of hanging in there. At the end of the first with Perron in the box, sniper Jeff Murphy puts one through the file hole to pull his team within one goal. The period would end 2-1 with CCL have a decisive lead in shots, 25-9.

The second period opened up with some back and forth play as both teams wanted it. One goal from SV would tie the game. CCL would be the next to strike as young gun Austin Perron absolutely wires one top shelf off a nice pass from Brock. SV gets into some penalty trouble and CCL capitalizes and spare Amanda Stephens snipes back-to-back goals to pull ahead 5-1. Brock would add one more to close out the game 6-1.

CCL would advance to the finals vs LO next week.

LIGHTS OUT STUN BUZZKILLS 12-5

In our first ever CCBHL playoff matchup we had the favoured Buzzkills taking on Lights Out. These teams, captained by veterans Nevill Carney and Dan Ballem were sure to come out blazing. And they did as there was some serious faces on both sides of the floor and these teams wanted it! Who would be the first to score? BEAST MODE Andrew Stephens opens the scoring to put his team up 1-0 only 8 minutes into the game. Tim Squires responds off a nice pass from Kiyomi Takahara, who have been a strong combination all season long. With two minutes left in the half Dan Ballem snipes one, unassisted, to put LO up 2-1. Shots finished 23-14 in favour of LO at the half.

The second period was a different story as Lights Out came out absolutely haywire and scored 5 goals in the first 4:05 of the second period to go up 7-1 and the Buzzkills were shocked. Goals were from Nicky Soucy, Devin McManus, Andrew Stephens and Zach Thomas with some absolute beauties. Buzzkills would do their best to settle things down and they did come back stgrong with two straight goals from Tim for his second of three on the night, and Brad who had a couple snipes as well. With that the score was 7-3 and Buzz was toying with the idea of coming back. BEAST MODE would not comply as he sniped another unassisted marker followed by Zach Thomas, Amanda Stephens with a nice goal off a feed from Zach who also potted another goal. With 6 minutes to go Tim would fire home his hat trick goal, followed by Bradley's second of the game. It would prove to be too little too late as Andrew Stephens would add one more but this one is over with the final score 12-5.

Lights Out advance to the finals versus the winner of Saviors vs Capital City Lions.
