**Facility Update**

Paid parking is now in effect at Banff Centre. However, Sally Borden Fitness and Recreation members and visitors receive complimentary parking validation for up to three hours. Please register your vehicle at the front desk, our staff is happy to help.

Prefer to bike? There is ample bike parking available on campus. We’re also just a short walk from downtown Banff via the Ken Madsen Path. Roam Transit’s Route 7 service will resume in October.

This week's archival photo takes us back to 2001, when the climbing gym at Sally Borden Fitness and Recreation officially opened its doors. 🧗

Whether you're taking advantage of the sunny weather outdoors or heading inside on a rainy day, the climbing gym has been a favourite destination for the Banff Centre community for the past 25 years.

These photos show the excitement surrounding the grand opening—and it's safe to say not much has changed! The walls are still buzzing with climbers learning new skills, challenging themselves, and connecting with fellow climbing enthusiasts.

**Entrance Closure**

The rear door (lower level) to Sally Borden Fitness & Recreation will be closed:

**Facility Update**

On May 27 and 28, outdoor parking areas at Banff Centre will be temporarily closed from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. so our facilities team can repaint parking lines, curbs, and directional markings.

Visitors, guests, and staff are asked to park in the parkade during this time. Some areas may reopen earlier depending on progress and weather conditions.

**Facility Update**

The upper Fitness Centre will be closed Friday, May 8, 2026 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. to reset the equipment layout. The Aquatic Centre, lower Fitness Centre, running track, and Climbing Gym will remain open. We appreciate your patience while we rearrange the space!

**Facility Update**

Good news to start your day 🏊‍♀️ The Sally Borden Fitness and Recreation Aquatic Centre is officially back open!

A few quick updates: the women’s changeroom remains closed for now, so please use the washrooms across from the gymnasium to change. A pool deck shower is now available for those using the aquatic facilities. Women can access the pool through a separate entrance next to the front desk. Staff are happy to help if you need directions.

Thanks so much for your patience as we continue improving the space. Now go enjoy your swim!

**Facility Update**

We have an update on the temporary closures of the Sally Borden Fitness and Recreation Aquatic Centre and the women’s changeroom. While the spaces were previously expected to reopen on March 7, 2026, unforeseen circumstances discovered during the initial work mean both areas will remain closed for the time being.

The Aquatic Centre is now tentatively scheduled to reopen on March 23, 2026. At this time, there is no estimated reopening date for the women’s changeroom. Women may continue to use the washrooms across from the gymnasium as a changing area. When the Aquatic Centre reopens, a shower on the pool deck will also be available. Sally Borden membership charges will resume in March.
