I've been creating these Zen characters for years and it's very exciting to see them finally come to life. They will be on Muttluks new web site within the next two weeks and we'll be crowd funding the project through Kickstarter starting within the next two weeks. I'll post when we go live on Kickstarter.

Heard it through the grapevine. The furry prophet is a canine!

Mantra Mutts have arrived! They are making their debut as wisdom cards at the Toronto Yoga Show April 1-3 2016.

Mantra Mutts are Zen characters and mantra poems created by owner and Sherpaw, Marianne Bertrand. Playful, humourous and thoughtful, Mantra Mutts will inspire your heart and tickle your funny bone.

This week we're celebrating - Merlin's injured fetlock is down to 15.5" from 18" in February.

Pretty impressive for a horse that had a euthanization order from the Humane Society only two short months ago. Yes you read that right. A disgruntled part time ex-employee called the Humane Society because she didn't agree with our holistic approach to Merlin's care. That in itself wasn't a problem. The problem came when the Humane Society decided Merlin wasn't getting better fast enough and they wanted more tests or euthanization. We already knew what was wrong - Merlin had developed osteomyelitis (bone infection) and severe arthritis in the injured pastern and fetlock. As our vet didn't have xrays or ultra-sound, We found a vet who did and took him there. Regardless of my explanation about how well Merlin had improved over the last two months, the vet produced a written report stating Merlin could never be cured and would only worsen and recommended PROMPT EUTHANIZATION. Interestingly Merlin was doing better that week than he ever had. After the vet report was written the Humane Society paid us yet another visit. They confirmed Merlin was doing extremely well, he had gained weight, the swelling was down substantially and he was walking comfortably on his injured leg. Unfortunately seeing was not believing in this case. On that same visit they left a euthanization order for 5 days later.

I owe an eternal thank you to Greg at Peterborough Vet for making time in his schedule to drive up to Bancroft to see Merlin on such short notice. I loved the look on his face when he first saw Merlin's leg for the first time in two months. He was amazed at how well Merlin was doing and how much he had improved. Thankfully he wrote a very different report and the euthanization order was lifted the next day.

Merlin is not out of the woods yet but he's well on his way. He has a great spirit and the determination to get well.

It's been a while since I posted. It's been along, cold & busy winter with too much on my plate to manage time wise. Posting on Facebook was one of those things that had to pause. I'm happy to be back. Part of the intense time constraints came from Merlin. Some of you know that Merlin injured himself quite seriously last fall on a piece of old rusty fencing buried out in the fields somewhere. A common horse injury on old farms. I will be posting more about his incredible journey from near euthanization to his recovery against all odds and contrary to conventional veterinary medical opinion. Although he hasn't fully recovered yet, I can safely say he's well on his way. Phew! Finally! I'm hoping the last half of his recovery is like my gas tank where the last half goes much quicker than the first half.
