Its 10° this morning on the front deck, enjoying my coffee and listening to the birds ♡ and thinking about hitting up the farmers market 😍

Not every thin horse needs more calories.

Some do, of course.

But not every horse who looks poor, light, tucked up, or underdeveloped simply needs a bigger scoop in the bucket.

This is one of the biggest feed-room traps we see.

A horse comes out of winter looking thin or lacking muscle, and the automatic response is to add more grain, more fat, more supplements, more everything.

But before adding more, it is worth asking:

What is actually missing?

Some thin horses need better forage.

Some need dental work.

Some need a parasite program reviewed.

Some need gut support.

Some need a better protein source.

Some need amino acid support.

Some need their workload adjusted.

Some are seniors who simply do not utilize feed the same way they used to.

And some horses are not just “thin” - they are lacking muscle.

That matters, because fat gain and muscle development are not the same thing.

If the goal is topline, strength, and better condition, the feed program needs to support the body’s ability to build and maintain muscle. That is where quality protein and the right nutritional foundation become so important.

Elite Builder is a great product to consider for horses who need support with condition, topline, and muscle development, especially when you are trying to move beyond the basic “just add more calories” approach.

It can be a valuable fit for:

• Hard keepers
• Seniors
• Horses coming out of winter
• Horses lacking topline
• Horses in conditioning work
• Horses who need more substance without relying on high-starch feeding

Thin horses deserve a thoughtful plan.

Because sometimes the answer is not more feed.

Sometimes the answer is better support.
