Open letter to 2020 High School Graduating Class
I have asked many people what they think the impact of your 2020 class will be. Most responses were about being a lost class, how sad you will be or how difficult life will be because you did not have closure. I suppose this will be true for some.
What I truly believe for you is that you are the most unique class in the last 100 years.
Being acknowledged, being celebrated, planting your flag of completion as you make the most important pivot of your life literally just disappeared. The trauma of all of this is as real as it gets.
I believe you can impact this world in a way no other graduating class ever has or could. I believe you are the most important and significant class in history of graduating classes. Your ideas, your innovations, your creativity, your impact and your perspective are all being shaped by this historic event.
I am sorry so much was taken from you so quickly. I believe the future of this country will need your wisdom, your experiences, your tenacity and your guidance into the future.
I believe in you with all my heart. Your community believes in you. This experience as traumatic as it is can supply some grit, some
Intestinal fortitude in your life to adapt and overcome in other tough situations you will in all likely encounter.
Stay strong, keep the faith. We will get through this together.
