A coach may only be part of a player's life for a season... but their impact can last a lifetime.
The right coach teaches more than hockey.

Years from now, players may not remember every game score or championship banner, but they'll remember the coach who believed in them when they needed it most.

🏒 WELCOME DALE DANALLANKO TO THE NOMHA TEAM! 🏒
The North Okanagan Minor Hockey Association is excited to welcome Dale Danallanko as our new Tournament Coordinator!
A lifelong hockey enthusiast and proud Okanagan local, Dale was born and raised in Vernon and played both house and rep hockey throughout his minor hockey career. His hockey journey even included a memorable BCJHL regular season game with the Vernon Lakers during the 1983/84 season.
Following graduation from Vernon Senior Secondary, Dale attended Okanagan College and later earned a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of British Columbia. He recently retired after a distinguished career with both the City of Vernon and the Regional District of North Okanagan, where he served as Environmental Services Manager.
Hockey has remained a constant throughout Dale’s life—as a player, coach, and passionate supporter of the game. He has coached several levels of minor hockey, including serving as Assistant Coach of Vernon’s U13 AAA team during the 1996/97 season.

Dale believes every player, regardless of skill level, deserves a positive minor hockey experience. He is excited to bring his leadership, organizational skills, and passion for hockey to NOMHA, helping ensure our tournaments run smoothly and create lasting memories for players, coaches, and families.

🏒 Important Update for the 2026–2027 Hockey Season 🏒

Hockey Canada will introduce The Shift Forward: Evolving Hockey Culture, a training program for coaches and parents/guardians that will eventually replace Respect in Sport.

✅ Existing Respect in Sport certifications will continue to be recognized until their expiry date.

This includes:
Respect in Sport – Parent
Respect in Sport – Activity Leader
Respect in Sport courses completed through other sports prior to April 15, 2026

Example: If your Respect in Sport – certification expires on June 1, 2027, it will remain valid for the 2026–2027 hockey season. However, you will be required to complete the Hockey Canada Shift Forward – Program before participating in the 2027–2028 season.

We encourage all coaches and parents to review their certification expiry dates and stay informed about upcoming training requirements.
