ion, as we sail along the Northumberland Strait seeking a line busting giant tuna! The day's activities begin at 6:00am, when the ocean is most peaceful watching the sun rise over some of the most spectacular scenery in the entire world. After sailing to the tuna grounds, the crew will get the bait and set the lines, and the adventure begins!! After a hookup, the adreneline starts to flow as the crew assists the anglers in getting in the chair to start the battle of a lifetime. Most tuna in the Northumberland Strait average approximately 700lbs, while fish weighing over 1200lbs are not uncommon. The World Record Bluefin Tuna was caught off the coast of Northern Nova Scotia in 1979 by Ken Fraser of PEI. Since 2000 the tuna populations in the North Atlantic of Canada have exploded to the point where fisherman are putting in increased effort for the same quota. The quota that used to take three months to catch is now being caught in a matter of hours. Due to this fact, some fisherman have decided to get into the sport fishing industry. Thus benefiting in two ways - fisherman can get revenue from a fishery without doing extra damage to the fish populations and they can also extend their seasons from hours to weeks. Also it allows the general public to catch, see and fight some of the world's largest game fish. Come out and join us for this once in a lifetime experience!!
