Do you know what goes into winterizing a lawn bowling green?

The season may be coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean the work on the green stops! Before we tuck the green in for the winter, our volunteers got to work this week giving it some much-needed TLC.

Wheelbarrow after wheelbarrow, our volunteers were hard at work coring and clearing the green and getting everything ready for winter. It may not be the most glamorous job at the club, but it’s an important one — and it takes a lot of hands (and a fair bit of muscle!).

A HUGE thank you to our hardworking volunteers who put in the time, effort and elbow grease to keep our green looking sharp year after year.

🌙✨ Moonlight Madness at the ALBC! ✨🌙

What a wonderfully ridiculous way to wind down the lawn bowling season!

As the sun began to set over the club on September 26, teams took to the green for a few very unconventional ends of lawn bowling. We bowled in the dark with flashlights and glowsticks, backwards, upside down, with our opposite hands, wearing oven mitts — and that was just the beginning!

Let’s just say there was a lot of bowling, a lot of laughter, and more than a few moments when we weren’t quite sure where the bowls were going.

And what better way to finish the evening than gathering around a generous potluck and enjoying good food, good company, and a beautiful fall night.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and made Moonlight Madness such a fun and memorable night.

What a fantastic day at the Almonte Lawn Bowling Club!

The 96th Governor General’s Tournament on September 5 was a wonderful day from start to finish. The bowling was outstanding, our spectators were fabulous, and Mother Nature certainly cooperated!

A huge congratulations to the teams from Quebec, who took home all four trophies! What a showing — well done! 👏🏆🏆🏆🏆

And a very special thank you to our tournament sponsor, The Hub Almonte, for helping make this event possible. We’re so grateful for your continued support of lawn bowling in our community.

Thank you to all the players, spectators, volunteers and supporters who helped make the 96th Governor General’s Tournament such a memorable day. We hope to see you all back on the green soon.

The 96th Governor General's Tournament is coming to the ALBC!

September 5th will see a very busy green at 157 Robert Street, Almonte.

This year's prestigious annual event will be run by District 16 of the Ontario Lawn Bowls Association and hosted by the Almonte Lawn Bowling Club. Festivities will start around 9:45 A.M. with the flag and player parade on the green. The opening ceremony starts at 10:00 A.M.

The first game of the day will start around 10:30 A.M. and the awarding of the trophies to the winners will happen around 4:30 P.M.

We are looking forward to a great day. Come join us, and watch some skilled lawn bowling!

On July 20th, the members of the Almonte Lawn Bowling Club came together for this year's Rolling for the Cure, and the generosity and community spirit on display were truly inspiring!

We were also honoured to host a very special bowl, sponsored by AERO BOWLS Canada, that is travelling across Canada in support of this incredible fundraising initiative. We were thrilled that it arrived in Almonte in time for the event, making our evening even more meaningful.

Thanks to the incredible support of more than 70 members, our club proudly raised $1,020 for the Canadian Cancer Society, with every dollar dedicated to advancing breast cancer research.

A sincere thank you to everyone who participated, donated, volunteered, and helped make the evening such a tremendous success. Together, we're doing more than enjoying a great night of lawn bowling, we're helping make a real difference in the fight against breast cancer.

What a fantastic day we had at the first-ever Two by Four by Eight Tournament on Tuesday, June 16! A huge thank you to everyone who played, volunteered, and helped make this new tournament such a memorable addition to the ALBC calendar.
